Speaking of grapefruit, here's a vague tidbit...did you know that most transplant recipients can't have grapefruit because it interacts with one of the drugs that prevents rejection?
Now for my fun contribution, this just might be my favorite link. Ever. Volume is essential.

Posted: 2/18/08 at 5:44pmIflit, there are also some other medications that don't mix with grapefuit juice. I know my mother can't drink it. I avoid it too, just in case!

OK, just for the fun of it, I'm admitting that sometimes I like chef boyardee beef raviolis in the can.

In college I went through a phase when I drank grapefruit juice and vodka whenever I went out to a bar. (Drinking age was 18 back then, BTW. I would NEVER do anything illegal, you know.)
Anyway, I got barf-your-brains-out sick one night after a long round of grapefruit juice and vodkas, and to this day cannot stand the sight, smell or taste of grapefruit juice.
I love grapefruit though.
You learn so much on this thread, don't you?

I just learned that there are two-toed sloths and 3-toed sloths, and that they're completely different species of animal.
Also ... if you see a sloth on the ground, it will only mean one of two things: they are either "taking care of business" or sick. Due to their slow metabolisms, they only go down to "take care of business" once a week. Even if a momma drops it's baby, she will not go down to get it.

"they only go down to "take care of business" once a week."
Funny, I do the same thing.

We interrupt the smut vaudeville show to bring you this special news bulletin...
Ten minutes ago there was a fire across the street. I'm used to the fire department coming to my street--they're here at least three times a week. I'm never sure why. They get out of the trucks, go into a building to investigate, get back in their trucks, and leave. For years this has been going on.
A couple of months ago, the familiar sound of trucks was again under my window. But I decided to peek out and see what the deal was. One of the apartments in a building across the street was on fire. Kitchen related, I think. The apartment hasn't been lived in since.
So just now, the familiar sound was out there again, and I heard some yelling. I looked out, and the gap between two buildings across the street was filled with fire. Smoke everywhere, the firefighters had it out in seconds, and...worst fear scenarios sprang to mind, as usual.
I'm not opposed to the NYFD coming to my street, but WTF?
