On the off chance you weren't aware, Kathleen Matthews, wife of MSNBC Hardball host Chris Matthews, is running for congress in my district, Maryland 8th Congressional District. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maryland%27s_8th_congressional_district for district details.
This is in no way an endorsement on my part. In fact, it strengthens my case that her husband Chris is challenged in the objectivity department when it comes to reporting on the 2016 political races. Several friends of mine have asserted that he has a notable anti-Sanders bias on-air and have gone so far as to suggest that his wife Kathleen's campaign has been a beneficiary of Clinton financial backing. I haven't been as dialed into this race as some of the others since she's moving into a safe House seat vacated by Chris Van Hollen who's likely to win his bid for the US Senate.
Nevertheless, would you all please help me follow the endorsements & the money. On-air last night, Chris did seem somewhat dismissive of the endorsements that Bernie Sanders received yesterday from a few prominent younger African Americans ahead of the SC primary.

I recently started seeing her commercials in DC. She looked very familiar, but I couldn't place the station she was a newscaster on. I didn't realize she's been off the air since 2006.

It has been obvious Chris Matthews is for Clinton.

Yes, it has been. But I just assumed it was because Matthews has known Clinton for decades. I'm not sure we have to look for some insidious, hidden motivation.
I was perplexed when Matthews reached back to Cold War rhetoric to treat "Socialist" as a dirty word. Yes, I recall those days, but surely Matthews is more educated than I on 20th-century politics and knows what a Democratic Socialist is!

I'd like to think so as well. But, here inside the Beltway there is an incredible amount of pillow talk between politicos, federal agency heads, White House press corps, talking heads on broadcast & cable TV programs, lobbyists on K St, and rentboys/rentgirls. Influence peddling is the area's lifeblood.
The relationship between Frank Underwood & Zoe Barnes on House of Cards was too true-to-life.

Mr. Matthews has no objectivity when it comes to political races. He is a partisan Democrat and makes no excuses for it on his show "Hardball". Many years ago, I had high hopes for him and thought he could be another Tim Russert and be hard on politicians of both parties. Unfortunately, Mr. Matthews became a "arm" of the Democratic party and sealed that reputation with the infamous "thrill up his leg" comment.

^^^^^ Yes, given the veritable army of rightwing talking heads on TV and radio, it's quite the tragedy that a few announcers on MSNBC are unapologetically pro-Democratic Party.
And let's face it, being pro-Hillary hardly makes Matthews some sort of radical liberal.

The rightwing talking heads (TV) are basically on FOX while the liberal/progressive people dominate the other networks (MSNBC, CNN, ABC,CBS etc). As for talk radio, there seem to be many more conservative shows but they seem to get the ratings and stay on the air while liberal/progressive shows don't do as well for whatever reason.
"And let's face it, being pro-Hillary hardly makes Matthews some sort of radical liberal."
Mr. Matthews is not a radical liberal and the point in my earlier posts was that he can not be considered objective anymore. Watch Mr. Matthews interview a Republican and contrast it to his fairly recent interview of Hillary Clinton. In other words, he is not really any different in interviews than someone like Hannity who fawns all over certain Republicans. Many years ago when I first saw Mr. Matthews on the "McLaughlin Group", he was so much better and not partisan.

Even though this thread is supposed to be about Mrs. Matthews it seems to have veered off a little but I can't help but comment.
Chris Matthews opinionated? Some people must have blinders on. What about Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly or any number of the commentators on Fox. They are not just "news readers", their religion is the GOP bible (or should I say babble?) And whatever little respect I had for Elizabeth HustleBuck is gone now.
I'm not even counting the a$$holes on talk radio. So open your eyes.

If you read my post I said Hannity fawns all over some Republicans. Of course, Mr. Mathews is opinionated that is his job. The problem is that his "bias" like Hannity is quite evident when he interviews political people. As I have said several time, Mr. Russert was the best because he gave both parties a hard time and you would never know from watching the interviews he worked for Senator Moynihan of NY. It would be nice if more people on TV could follow this example.

The OP of this thread brought up Mr. Matthews in the original post and questioned his objectivity. The OP stated that several friends noted Mr. Matthews has an anti- Sanders bias on air and his wife's campaign has received backing from the Clinton campaign. Due to those statements, I think mentioning Mr. Matthews and his views are not really veering the thread off.
As for Mrs. Kathleen Matthews, the few times I have seen her on TV she has come off as an articulate and intelligent person. I may not personally agree with her politically but the people of Maryland could do a lot worse than having someone like her represent them.

It's been quite awhile since the news has remained impartial. Sad, regardless of whom they support.
