On the other hand, I think we've found Paladino's base.
Why are you dickheads?

They were taunting someone in the stands by singing "YMCA" with altered the altered lyrics "Why are you gay?". It included stuff about gays being disease-ridden dick-suckers.
eta: Here it is in another video. It's a bunch of adults taunting two kids. Sports fanatics are really some of the absolute stupidest people around.

I am not denying that those in the professional sports themselves can create a homophobic environment but honestly, the infantile, mouth-breathing fans who resort to the lowest common denominator (that is also often misogynist and occasionally racist)to taunt people in the stands or in the field of play. It is definitely a major part of the sporting event culture that appalls me as a sports fan. Which is why I doubt any time from now a major male professional athlete who is active in his sport will ever come out.

Posted: 10/12/10 at 1:37pmFTR, I like baseball, and I like the Yankees. But, even with the homophobic content of the song aside, that video with a bunch of adults ganging up on kids just because they happen to like a different group of multimillionaire athletes than they do is just frightening.

Posted: 10/12/10 at 9:22pmThe more I think about this, the angrier it is making me. My brother's played baseball all his life and he says this thing is normal. He told me I just don't understand baseball. Guess I really don't.

Disgraceful and disgusting.
And the fact that they're doing it to two children makes it ten times worse.

Posted: 10/13/10 at 10:28amAccording to the post date on Youtube, that clip was posted in November 2006. Why is it only now being reported? IMO, those guys should have been kicked out.If someone was using the N word or spewing hatred towards another race or religion that would have NOT been tolerated. They should have been removed for harassment. This is beyond disgusting.Someone from the Yankee's should have spoken out about this and warned anyone doing something so vile would be removed and not be welcomed back.Of course, this would happen in my own little universe where there was no discrimination in the world.

I want everyone in the video singing identified.I feel everyone who knows these people should know they are nothing more than hatemongers. If I worked with one or went a store everyday where one worked,I'd want to know.

The Bleacher Creatures are about yelling out players names in a roll call until the players give them recognition and basically taunt other fans into submission (homophobic remarks among other things), especially if it is a team of big rival ie Red Sox or Mets fan. I had no idea they were some special organized group of fans. Can any of those fans even afford Yankee Stadium tickets nowadays (It was obviously the old stadium in that video)?
I do remember going to Shea Stadium when Barry Bonds was approaching Aaron's HR record and I honestly felt surrounded by an angry mob that was on the cusp of doing something stupid. It was incredibly uncomfortable, even if it was directed at just Bonds. The PA guy really didn't help much, and if anything made it worse by constantly playing PSAs on the jumbo-tron that was all anti-steroids that got a rise out of many fans. Subway Series games that I have attended have gotten ugly too with just fans and atmosphere, but a lot more pathetic as well.
