Could you fill us West Coasters in on what happened at the closing spot, Little Miss Vixen?

First - the fact that they put her in that spot... SHOCK!!
Second - That she looked Fantastic
Third - that she's evolved from R&B to this wiry hard rock sound
Fourth - that for the most part, she pulled it off while having to deal with godawful - demanding staging!!

People keep saying she screamed the whole thing, which is not surprising in the least, but was it still an enjoyable performance?
i hear her blood curdling tones from my 23rd floor balcony....
car alarms went off...
dogs howled...
very scary place to be at that moment..
I am still not sure if she was good or bad...
I suppose I have a reason to keep watching this otherwise bland show though.
I mean seriously - big suprise performance of MC Hammer?
oh lord
is it that time of year again?
"hammer time"?
i didn't get that memo!
damn my baggy genie pants are in the cleaners!!!
suxx.
Poor Kelly, she will never get a break with some people. I think she will surprise many people, and very soon. People will forget that she won A.I.
Kelly was the best part of the show. at the end she obviously didn't care that she was soaked and her make up looked bad... she was IN the audience singing her song with them. she really deserves all that she has.
Kelly's the best thing ever to come out of AI and completely transcends it.

Since I admittedly have no awareness of this type of thing, why exactly is this considered a "major shock"?
i was wondering the same thing.
i guess in some circles this sort of thing really matters.
I wasn't watching, but now I'll try to catch the end of one of the many many re-airings. And I wouldn't have been shocked, but what do I know?
This is probably the worst I've ever heard Kelly sing (thanks partially to the dreadful staging they gave her...the water, etc...what a mess), and she was still the best part of the show.
when Kelly was singing, she was doing more shouting... which obviously she wouldn't have gotten away with on AI. well the theme of the show seemed to be water... it was everywhere. and when she was singing, towards the end of "sine you've been gone," she was pretty much in the water standing over those in the audience. she was SOAKED and it was probably dangerous since she DID have a mic in her hand. it was a very out of control performance, but i love it because as i said, she was right there in the crowd, singing along to her song. it showed she really is grateful for her fans and i having a great time. so vocally, it kinda sucked, but the energy was there, which made it amazing in my opinion.
maybe she shoulda had a tall glass of umm...
WATER
to clear her those pipes...

Standing in water with a mic? Isn't that kind of dangerous?
yes.
sometimes it can be quite, um, how do you say?
"shocking"!
it was pouring down on her... i was trying to figure it out too... how did she escape being electrocuted...
shh!
i hear she's from another planet.
EWW. Who still watches the VMA'S??
LOL I don't even get MTV anymore.
i'm ready to give it up... it went downhill the most within the past 5 years when they stopped playing music videos and started playing sh!t cheap reality shows with the pathetic generation i'm sad to be growing up in...

The last VMA's show I watched was way back in 1999. I was drawn in by their "9/9/99" marketing scheme. I also believe that was the year that Diana Ross played with Lil Kim's boob before presenting an award. Now that's class.
I may have to watch the end of this year's just to see Kelly perform. I love her music. She's the only female singing that kind of music it seems these days.
yes! the infamous boobie year. How could anyone not love Ross playing with Lil Kim's tata?
