Ken & Barbie...

Hot or not?
"I'm learning to dig deep down inside and find the truth within myself and put that out. I think what we identify with in popular music more than anything else is when someone just shares a truth that we can relate to. That's what I'm searching for in my music." - Ron Bohmer

"I broke the boundaries. It wasn't cool to be in plays- especially if you were in sports & I was in both." - Ashton Kutcher

re: Ken & Barbie...

I don't like mini-perfect people with a dream house and friends you have to purchase. But the Barbie song? Totally.

Hot. Especially Barbie's designer wardrobe by Bob Mackie.

Didn't ken and barbie break up? I think Ken turned gay.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D

re: Ken & Barbie...

Well, yeah. But only after having the threesome with Barbie and Theresa.

re: Ken & Barbie...

Didn't Mattel hold a contest and deem some new Aussie guy Barbie's boyfriend? How sad for Ken...I guess he will be gay now.

re: Ken & Barbie...

Seriously? Why don't I get Aussie guys? I find their accents to be incredibly hot.

re: Ken & Barbie...

Yes, Ken and Barbie broke up. Her new boyfriend's name is "Blaine" who is an Australian surfer dude.

The divorce was amicable. Barbie got the DreamHouse, Ken got the Malibu pad. Barbie recently purchased an estate in Australia though.

Don't they have kids? And a multitude of pets? And who gets the Dream Plane and RV?

re: Ken & Barbie...

Does anyone else find it a little wrong that Barbie is probably supposed to be in her 20's and she still has a two year old baby sister? I mean the age gap between Barbie and Kelly is HUGE. I mean, imagine being twenty and your mom says she's having another baby. Maybe its just me. . .

re: Ken & Barbie...

Nonono, the dream house is big enough for eveyone to share it. It IS a dream house, after all.

re: Ken & Barbie...

Actually...

Barbie has a teenaged sister, too, "Skipper." And Barbie's best friend "Midge" had a teenaged sister "Skooter". Barbie's beau was Ken and Midge's was Allen.

Midge, Allen, and Skooter faded into obscurity at some point but I had them as part of my collection...back when Barbie's Dream house was made of cardboard and folded apart like a carrying case. It included a patio and a "screen" door...

Yes...I am THAT old...
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

I remember Skipper! And Midge! But not Scooter, or the cardboard Dreamhouse.

Midge!

I should check back at home....I have one of the first Barbie's, and her trunk and lots of clothes, etc...They were my mother's. I gave away all my Barbie's in trade for an American Girl Samantha.

re: Ken & Barbie...

I still have my Barbies (blushes). I never had a Midge doll because I thought she was a dork. I liked her friend Teresa better because I thought she looked more like me. I never heard of Scooter before. Oh yea, they brought Midge back except she was pregnant and there was this big controversy over whether or not it gives girls a positive image or something like that.

re: Ken & Barbie...

The Midge doll was part of a family set (she had a husband and son, and they both wear rings) and, I must confess, I bought her. ONLY because I was desperate for Mattel to make something like that when I was a kid, because I had to make Barbie look pregnant without the benefit of a think tank (I taped those little Barbie bike helmets to their stomachs, and it always looked funny).
As for Barbie's "sisters": I think that the two youngest ones are really her kids. I mean, wouldn't her parents be WAY Too old to have any more children?? She just says they're her sisters so people won't think she's a slut.

re: Ken & Barbie...

My pregnant Barbies always looked lumpy because I stuffed clothes into their spandex mini dresses to make them pregnant. As for Barbie's siblings, they definitely are her sisters. They market them as "Barbie's baby sister". I thought Barbie's mom would be too old too, but thats how their family works I guess. They wouldn't be her children because Barbie was never really married. Mattel got an ear full for making Midge pregnant and she was married. Barbie and Ken never got hitched so they wouldn't have had kids, even though that isn't true in real life always. They wouldn't want Barbie to look like a skank. I always pretended they were her daughters anyways, though.

re: Ken & Barbie...

Oh please, it is not wierd to pretend Barbie gave birth to her sisters. I used to have Barbie date my Treasure Trolls because I didn't have enough male dolls.
