since this is such an objective and clearly non-partisan site with a host of varying political preferences, i'm going to go way the hell out on a limb and say that bush will get about 4, 7 if he's lucky, votes here. which should confirm the tilt of the board (and how much it differs from the opinion of america as a whole), not that there's ever been any question of that nor that there is anything wrong with that. but that said...

Papa may be right (if you'll pardon the pun!),
but my vote is going to my Sen. Kerry!

As much as I'd like Bush to win...I think that it's going to be Kerry. Not by a landslide, but by an extremely close margin.

But if any certain events happen within the next few months, I believe that Bush will gain the edge.

Okay, so I'm really not sure. re: kerry vs. bush - who has it? I work in acting, all my friends are actors, and they all hate George Bush, so it all may be in my environment, as papa mentions.

those are FASCINATING!

So...question...if Nader were to drop out of the race and throw his support to Kerry, do you think a big difference could be made?

Papa - who finances 'votemaster'? Rasmussen has an established record of non-partisanship. Those votemaster numbers seem a little skewed to me. most people are predicting a slim electoral victory for Kerry - and as we all know, that's what counts - but those numbers seem off.

I was going to ask if that site was leaning toward Kerry themselves because some of the numbers DID seem off. Some of the strong Kerry states, I would have predicted them as Barely Kerry, and same for Bush.

well, you can download the excel sheets and look at the poll #'s. it might be partisan as in the votemaster acknowledges that he's a kerry supporter, but the numbers seem ok to me in that he's basically assigning a lot more states that some folks are assessing as deat heats. as it is he's got no ties and all votes are assigned to a candidate. if you want to remove the statistical dead heats, the numbers will probably correspond closer to rasmussen's.

eh, or maybe not, lol. without the ties, it still favors kerry 258-202. closer, but it could be the polls that they are choosing. rasmussen, la times and ny times all have it tighter than that in their electoral counts.

We'd better inform the trackers of the shocking results on this poll. I'll call CNN with the press release!

This site is favoring John Kerry... 8:2.
Shocking.

If you want to see a different result, go do a poll on the YaHoo site. I'm still rather pleased that even a conservative guesstimate at this point shows Kerry in the lead - with sincerest apologies to the Bush supporters among us.

Hey, just because I think that Bush will lose doesn't mean that I want him to! re: kerry vs. bush - who has it?

I have asked some friends reasons on why they are voting for Kerry. The reasons are pretty shocking- let's just say that most of them don't know what they're talking about. Some people have given me a solid reason why, but most of my friends are just going along with what actors, movies, and comedy central skits are saying without even looking into it further.

It kind of upsets me that people are going to the polls with that opinion, on either side. But I think that Kerry's going to win this race- and I'm not too happy with that prospect. Especially if there are more people that are voting for him like that.

#18re: kerry vs. bush - who has it?

Guenevere - it can certainly be argued that a great many people are voting for Bush because they've had beaten into their heads that if they don't, they're un-American. "If you're not with us, you're against us."

I said "on both sides."

I know people who are voting for Bush because they are homophobic and want that gay marriage ban. And that's their only good reason. Updated On: 8/4/04 at 01:38 PM

Certainly less pervasive and bitter than the "anyone but Bush" clones. At least 30% of the country would elect a rotten banana peel our President over W. Sad that the person matters more than the issues in many cases.

ckeaton - when Mr. Bush has willingly set himself up as the flagbearer for the represented issues, I'm not sure it all boils down to just a hatred of him as a person. There's a certain ease in fingering someone who very openly says he was 'called by god' to this task.
