Never liked her. I only ever thought she looked attractive in Picnic, and only ever really enjoyed her in Boys Night Out. Otherwise, I've always found her a study in tedium; and, in the epitome of tedium, Vertigo, she looks like The Astounding She Monster!
LOVE HER!
Love her in Vertigo, but she did make that odd bit of business called Just a Gigolo with Bowie and Dietrich. I also remember some Agatha Christie bit called The Mirror Cracked, an all-star cast if I remember right.

'Mirror Cracked' is the best.
She refers to Liz Taylor (Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots) as looking like sh*t.
Never mind. I was going to correct Glebb's post, above, but he corrected it.

How could you not love Kim Novak?
Corrected what?
I also vaguely remember her presenting a sound design Oscar with James Stewart.
I forgot about Bell, Book and Candle.
How could you not love Kim Novak?
I think I gave a few reasons in my response.
Corrected what?
When I first looked at your post that says Love Her, there was a box with a red x in it. I had posted the photo, but then realized it was now visible in your post, so I removed it from my post.
That one with the back of her head from Vertigo just highlights how tedious she and it are. Boring hair, boring gray suit, blank vapid look on her face, etc.
I didn't say 'How could you not like Kim Novak?'
I didn't say you did. I was just reponding to Mr.Roxy's post and yours in the same post.

I love BELL, BOOK & CANDLE - what a cast!
And the scene in PICNIC when she dances with William Holden (*SIGH*) has always gotten my vote for sexiest moment in movies.

I love her too!!! I fell in love with her in PICNIC and after that I had to get my hands on (almost) every movie she's ever made. Her beauty is mesmerizing. I have yet to see JEANNE EAGLES or THE AMOROUS ADVENTURES OF MOLL FLANDERS.My favorite performance is from STRANGERS WHEN WE MEET opposite Kirk Douglas.
Vertigo is on Wednesday, TCM.
Everything about that movie is perfect.
It's funny, I don't think she's that attractive, but in Vertigo, you just can't take your eyes off her. One of my favorite movies of all time, definitely.
my dad sat next to her on a plane once.
Absolutely love her! I always thought she was stunning, but that's not why I love her.
There's something about her presence and delivery that is so - I don't have the right word for it-ethereal maybe. Especially in Vertigo. She's sort of distracted, but in a good way. Perhaps someone else can be more articulate than I am.
Many years ago, though, she appeared on an Academy Awards show as a presenter, and we all thought she looked very drag queen.
One fine woman! YOWZA!
Kim was SO popular in the mid-'50s.
It's hard to believe she was only 23 in Picnic! And 25 in Vertigo. I think it was the deep sultry voice.
Her performances have grown on me over the years. I actually like her quite a bit now.
And I love seeing the two "Madges" from Picnic in the same movie! Bell, Book and Candle... featuring the original Broadway Madge (Janice Rule) and the film Madge (Novak).
Tangent: I like Pillow Talk for the same thing (among other reasons): Both "Babes" from Pajama Game are in it.
really Liotte? Tell her hi from my dad, lol.....he often forgets which son he is talking to, but he remembers her, lol
Yes- her house and my house (in CA) share a border between my backyard and hers. But I must say- I wouldn't be able to recognize her even if I was talking to her face to face, as I have never seen any of her movies. Does trick or treating as a kid count as talking to her?
it counts, and go out and rent Vertigo, and Bell, Book, and Candle NOW!
How could you have NEVER seen Hitchcock's Vertigo????????

Besty, I think you meant PLEASE DON'T EAT THE DAISIES not PILLOW TALK. Yeah it's funny how Janice Rule did BELL BOOK and CANDLE just two years after Kim was chosen over her for the film version of PICNIC. Janice Rule did in fact audition for the film. Janice Paige on the other hand originated the role of "Babe Williams" in the OBC of PAJAMA GAME only to see the role go to Doris Day in the movie version and then just a few years later wound up co-starring with her in PLEASE DON'T EAT THE DAISIES!
