That's the one! I get my Doris movies mixed up. I love them all, though.
The dance that she does with William Holden to "Moonglow" in Picnic is one of the sexiest scenes ever recorded on film.
This clip starts with him dancing with little sister Susan Strasberg, then Kim sashays in. Then the "Theme from Picnic" takes over and wow.

Thanks, PJ!
Dear God, I would have done anything for that man.
That theme from Picnic is utterly sultry and romantic. I love how the introduction slowly builds into the theme. one of the all time greats.
I was once speaking to a 60-year-old I know and mentioned Kim and he went "Kim Novak... that slut."
Adore her!
Isn't she a "has-been"..... since the 60s? She never struck me as an actress in the least.
Well, she does have 33 films/tv on her resume.
Just not my cup of tea I guess. 33 films or not.
I need to see more of her work before I make a statement like that.

She's a "has been" with a few classic films/and performances under her belt, a multitude of fans who still remember and adore her, a champion for animal rights and a great humanitarian.
vb player-I referred to her resume because you said you never considered her an actress in the least. I"m not commenting on her skill, just the fact that she is indeed, an actress!

When did we start talking about Tippi Hedren?
One of the main reasons Kim seems "distracted" in VERTIGO is that Hitchc0ck tormented her. But somehow it only enhanced her performance.
I love her in BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE even more.
On TCM now!

and her dual role on Falcon Crest as Skylar Kimball/Kit Marlowe. Shoulder pads have never been so wide before or since.

nit-snit i wasn't referring to Tippi whatherface I was referring to
KIM NOVAK
Kim's on TCM right now!
I watched a little of Vertigo last night too, Glebby.
Regarding Robert Osborne's introduction... I didn't realize that Kim came in at the last minute and replaced Vera Miles in the part. He acted like it was a well-known "scandal" or at least a "major coup" at the time. I've never heard anything about it.
Is that why he cast Vera in "Psycho?" Sort of as an "I owe you one?"
I can't picture Vera playing the part(s) in Vertigo, though. She doesn't have that ethereal, distracted quality that Kim does. Obviously Hitch was VERY picky about how he wanted that part played.
Osborne also said that he had to borrow Kim from Columbia to have her make this movie at Paramount, and that this was her favorite of all her films. Although she didn't care much for that drab, grey, Edith Head suit that Hitch had her wear for half the movie.

when you went blonde
you looked just like Kim Novak

when you were brunette too
and i must have cried a million tears
when i watched VERTIGO
coz both of her looked so much like you
- phranc, HITCHCOCK
some years back they had a Hitchcock thing at the Castro Theater (one of the grand old San Francisco theaters still standing) and she was present.......or maybe it was just a Vertigo thing, I can't remember....
And even better...
Has anyone seen Middle of the Night with Kim and Frederic March? I don't think it's on VHS or DVD.

She had a line in "Mirror Crack'd" that could apply to SO MANY films:
"Did you see his last picture? I could eat a can of Kodak and PUKE a better movie!"
Check her out in the wonderful Billy Wilder "Kiss Me, Stupid" from 1964 with Dean Martin and Ray Walston.
