So much in this thread I have no idea where to begin.

The Nativity scene is a little intolerant but I guess intolerance is OK as long as the target is the right one.

Lest you think I have no reason to spout opinions on the subject, I do. My sister had an abortion many years ago & was never the same emotionally & regretted it.


I am enough of a realist to realize that abortion is here to stay. I can see it & have honest debate over early 1 st term. Anyone who says a late term fetus does not feel pain is full of it. There are people here more worried about animals than these.

The Freedom of Choice Act is beyond radical. Besides allowing abortion at any time it will allow federal funding for it. If you are against it, too bad. Your money will go to it. Those medical personnel who have moral problems with it will be forced to perform the procedures or risk being fired. Separation of church & state will mean nothing as Catholic hospitals will be forced to perform procedures they find repugnant. Watch for legal challenges to this portion of the bill. If the hospitals lose, the hospitals will be closed rather than being forced to perform them. Many will be out of work. So much for freedom of choice.

If he (Obama)pushes this, he will alienate many in Congress from the beginning & will pay the price. I always wonder about how Democrats can kiss babies on the campaign trail . While in the womb, they are fair game to be ripped out at any time. Afterward, maybe out of a feeling of guilt, they have to do everything for them from the cradle to the grave.

I now the crap will be hurled at me from all sides. Cest la vie as they say.

Thank you Dr. Roxy. When exactly does a fetus begin to feel pain? Since you seem to know...enlighten the rest of us. It seems to be a subject that most Neurologist can't agree upon yet you have the answer.

Oh my gosh...you mean my tax dollars might be going toward something I don't support? Wow...who would have ever thought that could happen? I can't believe it.

Since when do we get to pick and choose where are tax dollars go? If that were the case, I'd direct all mine to funding a national health care system and none to a border fence.

The Freedom of Choice act says this:

."declares that it is the policy of the United States that every woman has the fundamental right to choose to bear a child; terminate a pregnancy prior to fetal viability; or terminate a pregnancy after viability when necessary to protect her life or her health.

Meaning that after viability is determined she cannot choose to have an abortion unless her health or life are at risk.

Then I guess they simply decline funding from the Federal Government. and become private hospitals, which certainly would separate Church from State. It seems they want their cake and to eat it too. They want the money but not the rules that go along with it.

Ironic that you speak of choice. But they do have a choice, to either accept the Federal Funds and the rules that go with it, or to not.

So, it's alright for Catholic Hospitals to take a moral stand on what they think is right, but not the President? Alienating certain members of Congress goes with the territory. If it's not on this issue it will be on another.

I think the difference between Democrats and Republicans, Roxy, is that the Democrats don't think they control a mothers womb, whereas you and many Republicans do.

If that were only true. It's a lovely right wing talking point with no basis in fact. Like most of your posts. I've yet to receive my Cradle to Grave membership card where I get everything for free and don't have to work for it. Can you tell me where I sign up for it? Does it mean I don't have to pay taxes too. I'd love that!

Yeah. That's kind of what happens. One's money often goes to paying for things I don't approve of. Like The Iraq War and nuclear weapons and the salary of the Bush Administration past present and future.

Don't like having your money paying for things you don't like? Don't pay your taxes. Simple.

Oh, you mean like the pharmacists who are forced to hand out the morning-after pill when they're morally against it, so they don't get fired?

No, wait, that doesn't sound right, 'cos last I checked, pharmacists were totally allowed to say "despite your uterus not being any of my business, I'm not going to do my job for you today".

I'll have more respect for the pro-life obsession with the rights and protection of minimally formed fetuses when I see the same obsession exist for the care and well being of the unwanted children who ARE born.

I am sorry but the right wing cannot have their cake and eat it to. When it comes to something like abortion which they feel is murder and therefor wrong they complain when their tax dollars are going towards it. Yet, many liberals for the past 8 years felt that the killing of innocent US soldiers in the Iraq war was wrong and yet our tax dollars were going towards that.

The fact is Roxy, that your tax dollars will go to things that you don't always support. Deal with it.
