I've always liked Kristen. Never really cared for Dax, but I think they are both a really cool couple for saying this.

Maybe Brad and Angelina could solve their broken promise if they married in a state where gay marriage was legal.

Still, I think I recall them saying they'd get married when ALL GAY COUPLES Could marry,which I would assume gay marriage allowed in all 50 states.

I know their hearts are probably in the right place, but..."tacky"? It's like saying, "Can you imagine if we invited gay friends to our wedding and they can't, like, do that themselves? OMG! How would that make us look? That is SO tacky!"

I've never heard of anyone but non-celebrities taking this stance and I guess it's nice and well-intentioned and all, but it does sort of read to me as "Oh gay people, look at the sacrifices I am making for YOU, enlightened straight person that I am!"

It just seems silly and pointless to me.

I don't understand why, Phyllis. Would you get married if black people were forbidden to wed? Would you ride a bus where blacks had to sit in the back? I wouldn't.

I can also understand that Jolie and Pitt got tired of waiting. I don't need to judge them for changing their minds.

And FWIW, Dax Shepherd has really grown on me in PARENTHOOD.

Well, I can't get married anyway, so if black (straight?) people were forbidden to wed I guess I'd say "welcome to the club." And no, I wouldn't ride a bus where blacks had to sit in the back.

I think taking that stance is rather counterproductive. No, we won't marry. We will live together, have children, have a life that looks just like a marriage by all outward appearances, but we won't have the legal binding. The celebrities who are saying this usually have the money to hire legal teams to ensure all of their rights are protected. To me, that just allows those who say we don't NEED marriage or that we deserve separate but equal unions to say, "SEE?! Marriage is a holy union and not a secular necessity! They don't NEED it."

And after her sloth meltdown, I just don't think Kristen is stable...
