Mrs R says bring along a box of Kleenex
I assume she can be nominated for an Oscar but the film would have to go into the Foreign language catergory. If she does not get every makor award, there is no justice in the world

Mrs R said things were omitted
I told her the movie was 2:20 & it could have run for 10 ours with her life. Waiting for the DVD with deleted scenes & bio material on her

I'm not familiar with Edith Piaf's life story.
But Mr. Roxy? Can you change the title to the proper "La Vie En Rose"? Thanks!

It's subtitled, not dubbed right? I saw this in February when i was in France under the original title "La Mome". it was amazing. and they had an interview with Marion Colliard in one of their magazines, and she looks so different in real life!

No dubbing
Mrs R is a purist . If a foreign movie is dubbed, she will not see it.

Did the actress lip-synch to Piaf recordings, or sing them?

Lip-synch perfectly. If you did not know ahead of time, you would never know

Piaf's life is so interesting and tragic. She's one of my favourite singers of all time, I'll absolutely have to see this movie.

I saw a fabulous Broadway show about Piaf decades ago - can't remember who the actress was who played Piaf but she was extraordinary. Anyone recall who it was?

Her name was Jean Lapatoire
The spelling may be wrong however
She (Piaf) makes Judy Garland's life look absolutlely heavenly by comparison

Roxy;
Just came from the film. She was fabulous. The film felt a tad long. But that is just a quibble.

I thought this was going to be about that French movie about the little boy who desires to be a girl.
Incidentally, just last week I enlightened my mom about Edith Piaf. She didn't know who she was.

Her name was Jean Lapatoire
It's Jane Lapotaire, and she won the Tony for her portrayal of Piaf.
I can't wait to see this movie.

Gotta see this flick...her cover of 'Ne Me Quitte Pas' is the most moving song I've ever heard in my life.

An amazing film.
I thought that there were 3 different actresses playing the adult Edith, but was amazed when I found out that only Marion Colliard played the 3 ages of Piaf I was FLOORED! She is amazing, perfect lip-synching, and an utter joy to watch onscreen.
The opening, with strains of "Heaven Have Mercy", was chilling and wonderful. The finale with Piaf's final concert done without sound was a perfect ending to this gem of a movie.
The soundtrack is on permanent rotation in my CD player.
Lovely, heartbreaking, fabulous, elegant. Wonderful!
