Lakehouse...One Of The Worst Movies Of The Year?

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie...the previews for it made me want to see it. Went to see this movie tonight, and I had a good laugh. The lines were incredibly cheesy, some of the acting was not great. I was very disappointed that I wasted 8 dollars on this movie.

Keanu Reeves is the most awkward kisser ever. On screen, atleast.

...because they somehow discover it in the movie.

The letters they write to eachother were so cheesy, I blushed. There was a lovely moment where they danced...for about 2 minutes. A great waste of time--it could have been reduced to 30 seconds and had the same effect.

Wait, so they write letters to each other? How does the one in the present time write to the one living there two years AGO? I have no desire to see the movie, but this plot point has me intrigued.

The plot is what got me.

The mailbox is a...time...machine...thing, it seems. When she (in 2006) puts a letter in the mailbox, he can open it (in 2004) and find the letter she has written--and he can write back.

It was ridiculous. But I really like Sandra and love that goddamn Keane song (which wasn't even in the movie) and a few friends wanted to see it, so I went. It really was that bad. And not bad in a great, so bad it's totally awesome way. Keanu is cute, but his VOICE! God, he's just so monotone. If you want a romantic time travel story you can really get swept up in, rent Somewhere in Time.

Only certain parts bothered me...

I wish he just would have died in the end... honestly... It would have made it so much better.
And Sandra Bullock is adorable... period.
I don't think it's one of the worst movies of the year, but it proabably isn't one of the best either...
It made me want to go watch Say Anything for no apparent reason.

Okay, a mailbox that acts like a time machine, fine, for a movie I can suspend disbelief that far.

This movie is pretty bad - but I don't think it's one of the worst movies of the year.

Titles like that are reserved for things like THE HILLS HAVE EYES, SILENT HILL, and ULTRAVIOLET.
