If some of the responses here weren’t so ridiculous, they’d be funny – in a VERY black humor sort of way. The attitude of some in the gay ‘community’ toward each other just cracks me up – that is, when it’s not making me sick.
“WHY won’t he come out, already?” “WHY didn’t he come out sooner?” “WHEN will more people in the public eye come out?”
You want to know why? Because of YOU. If I were in his position, the biggest obstacle I’d face in my mind is dealing with those who are supposed to be my ‘brethren’. All the bellyaching about not enough out celebrities, and when one DOES come out, it’s like throwing chum in the water.
My favorite concept is, “Well, I’D do it differently!” SO WHAT?!? You know what? It’s NOT your life! He’s facing HIS parameters, HIS pressures and HIS own journey – NOT YOURS! What about that concept is difficult to understand? I am sick and tired of people sitting back in judgment, when the only thing the other person is doing is trying to find their way through their own existence. It isn’t any easier for him than the rest of us.
I don’t know about anyone else, but MY life didn’t come with an instruction manual. And something I learned VERY early on is that we’re not all on the same path – there is NOT some set of standardized rules that apply to everyone.
Get over yourselves, and stop being the vindictive, spiteful, bitter bitches that gets us stereotyped that way – Lance and the rest of us deserve better.
And for the record – BRAVO, Lance! It takes courage and fortitude – especially in the public eye – to say, “I am one of THEM.” And make no mistake, we are STILL – even at this late date – a ‘them’ to the vast majority. May your choices give you new-found strength and peace of mind, for that should be the ultimate goal.
ok, i true hope bg2 was being funny if not i swear

Rath:"I can't even believe the Lance Bass reaction on this board!"
I know. Especially since closeted performers are coming out of the closet left and right. My goodness I can't keep count of who's publicly declared he or she is gay. The names don't stop. What's the big deal?
Everywhere I look another actor, actress, singer, senator, film director...all of them busting the closet doors wide open. It's gotten to be commonplace.

And on this thread which supposedly celebrates the fact that someone felt comfortable to come out of the closet you twist words and mock homosexual women?
For SHAME!
"Two drifters off to see the world. There's such a lot of world to see. . ."
I was celebrating lance and I sent my best wishes.. however, certain people, such as rath, have been nothing but negative toward lance, which angers me.
bwayguy - honestly, Rath wasn't being negative toward Lance at all. She has a connection to Reichen - which many here know of - so her comments were more in line with a generalized protective stance toward someone close to her. It really wasn't directed at Lance personally at all.
