All these years saying "It's My Party" and we never dreamed her party was a Vegan Potluck with Tribal drumming!

60'S pop singer Lesley Gore is coming out.

I always knew there was something going on in "You Don't Own Me" but didn't guess what it was.

I love Lesley Gore - that's great! I'd heard about the Bridget Fonda character in "Grace of My Heart" being based on Lesley, but I didn't realize she was never officially out.

I still have an authograph picture with a letter she sent me years ago....yes I've been a fan for a long time.
So I guess she meant to sing.."nobody knows where my Joanie has gone, but Judy left the same time".

People seem to foget she also wrote the song "Out Here On My Own" from "Fame".

When I was in college about 75 years ago :) it was pretty common knowledge that Leslie liked to butter her muffin.
My friend Melissa would DJ at the Lesbian Dances and the evening would always finish with "It's My Party" and all the gals would start SCREAMING.

Melissa treasured a Tiger Beat (or one of those teen music mags from the '60) that featured an interview with Leslie (something like "Leslie Gore's Pajama Party!") where the interviewer (Dick Clark, maybe?) asked Leslie: "You must talk abouts boys non-stop at your pajama parties!" and Leslie responded: "Well, uh, no, not really. We girls talk about other things besides boys!"

Melissa's response was "I KNEW IT!!! She's a baby-dyke from WAY back!"

I guess I was the only one who never knew. I feel like that Iowa sports fan that Lea Delaria used to joke about: When Martina Navratalova came out, Lea speculated that there was one 80-year old man in Iowa who said "Whaaaaaaaaaat? Her? No way!"

And yes, I can't spell her last name-- Lucky she & I are on a first name basis.

Anyway, I'm glad for Lesley! And a 23-year relationship! Good work, Ladies!

Did you hear about Martina introducing Chris Everett to her future husband, Andy Mills. It happened when Chris was staying at Martina's house, and Martina wasn't home one night. He woke up the next day and said "I just slept with Chris Everett in MARTINA NAVRATILOVA's bed! No one is going to believe this!"

Goth--the point is not that people THOUGHT she was gay before. It's the freedom that comes from acknowledging it publicly, saying "I don't have to maintain a false facade any longer."

Pal--She doesn't sound like she was maintaining a false facade. Sounds to me, like she has a new record coming out and they are trying to stir up media attention.

The trend of old-age stars coming out when their careers are over is frustrating (Richard Chamberlain, Lesley Gore), but it's an improvement on their predecessors who NEVER came out. God bless Elton John, George Michael, Tom Cruise (oops! sorry), Harvey Fierstein, etc.

When did Chamberlain come out? When I was in high school in the late 1970's, our English teacher showed us a video of the production of Chamberlain in "Taming of the Shrew". After it was over, she said "He's gorgeous. Too bad he's gay." Obviously it was common knowledge back then.
