mejust, I respect your opinion.

I just feel able to care about more than one issue at a time, and I think we HAVE to care about more than one issue. The issues are overlapping and complicated, and we may prioritize them differently, but I don't really think you don't care about anything. At least I truly hope not.

Well it was specific to me but I feel it is an inclusive to all. We cannot exist in a global community if we cannot embrace the ideals that built us. Those basic fundamental ideals are why people want to come here and seek freedom in the first place. The thing about Obama is he is a historical marvel. I don't know one person black, white, Asian, Latino, Hindu, Jew that would have bet money on him being on the nominee two years ago. Because they thought they "knew" where we were culturally, turns out American truly do want progress despite all these years of Bush regression.

I somewhat agree with NYadgal & mejusthavingfun. But of course there are more issues to deal with than the war. The end of the war will leave a messy aftermath which will not be easy to work out. America's entire middle east policy is very complex.

There are many issues that can't be ignored. The economy, energy policy. the environment, education, medicine, etc.

I'm not so certain the Republicans will want to cooperate. More likely they will want to stick to their own platform and try to regain office in 4 years.

Krissy, the thing is there are a few moderate Republicans that can cross party lines, and if we do not demonize the party, but just Bush and Rove, I think it will be easier to work with them to build consensus.

In the Rachel Maddow interview, Obama basically said the same thing - he never attacked the GOP per se, but went after Bush, McCain and Rove for distorting what the GOP used to stand for (small government, low taxes, fiscal control). He has made clear that his intent is to govern all Americans, not just the Democrats.

The promise of the future is one thing, NYadgal. The lessons of the past are another.

We cannot let our hopes for the future be destroyed by forgetting who the opponents are, what they have been responsible for, and what they will do if they ever get in power again.

So okay. Treat them nicely. Why not, we can be bigger than they are. Be polite, say please and thank you.

But never, ever, trust them, or be fooled into thinking that they are anything other than what they are: the American Fourth Reich.

There's a basic Eastern spritual principle, "You create what you defend against..." Better to begin looking past the vitriol and ugly rhetoric and avoid manifesting the ugliness we've fought off too long.

There's a Christian idea worth reinterpreting in those Eastern terms, too, if examined from a standpoint of karmic debt: "Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord."

The universe will handle the karmic desitny of many who have put forth so much darkness. Let their karma catch up with them tonight, and onward. Let's leave them alone to burn it off (with a lot of Fox coverage, of course).

On the very day when every progressive in the country--no, make that the WORLD--should be HAPPY, you are STILL sowing discontent. Obviously you're addicted to conflict, so get therapy. Or medication. Or layed.

But don't bring us--and Barack down. I said in the other thread: You're dishonoring him.

Yes, while you obviously remained steeped in anger and bitterness, both Hillary and I became Obama supporters. Everybody seems to have noticed this--except YOU!

And today, everyone in the Democratic Party is smiling and happy (even though it's not over yet!)--except YOU!

Now act like an Obama supporter, not a Rovian backstabber.

You know what, everyone let us just sit back and celebrate democracy working (with a few problems) in the United States.

This is a first of many steps we need to turn our country around.

Today is a day to celebrate people getting involved and letting their voices be heard (and hopefully 8 losing in California).

What matters to me more than anything else is that people are voting. People care. We have demonstrated that as a nation, we can raise ourselves out of the morass Bush/Rove has created.

Let us celebrate that.

I saw Sarah Palin on CNN after she voted and wanted to puke. "I hope that tomorrow morning I wake up as Vice President-elect...yada yada"
