The first, state-supported gay marriages have been performed in NY. With all of the recent tragedies, it is nice to take a moment to celebrate love. NYC is supposed to perform over 800 Marriages on Sunday.

A nice big happy dance for NY.

At mass this morning the priest mentioned that this was an historic day in New York State. He mentioned that this was something that should be "embraced with an open mind because it's God's way of leading us to great things."

After mass I thanked him for his comments and he hugged me saying that it was his prayer that the Catholic Church would take this as an example.

I couldn't believe my ears. Hallelujah!

That last couple is Phyllis Siegel and Connie Kopelov. They've been together for 23 years and were the first gay couple married in New York City.
