Liza Minnelli

So I'm going to see Liza Minnelli in concert for the first time in a few weeks. Can anyone tell me what her shows are usually like / what the usual setlist is?

re: Liza Minnelli

I have seen Liza three times, Carnegie Hall, The Rink and the Stepping Out tour. Those were years ago. Where are you going to see her?

Bass Hall in Ft. Worth. It's a one-night only thing.

re: Liza Minnelli

I saw Liza at the Concord Hotel, in the Catskills, in 1970, one year after her mother died and one year before she made Cabaret. I was 14.

She sang "Mister Bojangles" and "Maybe This Time," "God Bless the Child" and an amazing version of "Shine on, Harvest Moon." A drunken man yelled out that she should sing "Over the Rainbow" and she said, "There was only one woman who could sing that sing, and she's no longer with us." The audience applauded and the drunken man's wife escorted him out.

I went backstage and she let me hold her dog's leash. The dog pooped in the corridor outside the dressing room. Someone cleaned it up and said, "Don't tell Liza." Liza kissed me on the cheek and thanked me for walking her dog.

Thirty years later--I was now 44--I was seated at a dinner table with her and I told her that story. She pointed a finger at me and said, "I was just going to say...you LOOK very familiar!"

She has been touring but she's already played a lot of US dates and is now headed for Mexico and the UK. Her schedule is posted on her website.

Minnelli = Charisma in spades. Even on her laurels, the rest is gravy.

I am a few months younger than Liza. My life has been enriched wherever her talent has taken me (stage, film, TV, recordings, writings). Happy Birthday, Liza, and wishing you many more happy years ahead! heart

My God! This thread was started in 2008, and I left two comments then.

Oh well, here's my comment now.

I still love Liza and will drive to L.A. from southern Nevada to see her at the Million Dollar Theater next week.
