the writers have stated that there is nothing religious or supernatural about the show and everything has a sienctific explanction.
A couple others posted this morn that they've read JJ / writers have said characters are based on Stephen King novels and that Locke, specifically, is based on Randall Flagg. WHO's RANDALL?
Elijah :-0
Randall Flagg was the bad guy from "The Stand." The demon guy.
Broadwayguy2, you should check out the tinhats...a group of LOTR fans who are convinced Dom and Elijah are a gay couple and that New Line's PR people (along with Sean Astin) are conspiring to keep them in the closet.

I love this show too and it's so typical JJ Abrams (ala Alias) in that he always surprises you with what happens. As much as I love Terry on Alias, he is wonderful as Locke and has become the really interesting character on this show. Finished watching him on Lost last night and switched to West Wing only to see him again with his fruit salad on his uniform. He's everywhere and certainly deserves the exposure. Very talented actor.
And yet, no one is explaining the blood to me. Pullleeesseeee??

Sorry! So Jin was working as a hit man for Sun's father, and he had just come home from "work" covered in blood.
i'm a sucker for the gushy fan girl stuff-i.e Jack/kate. anyone else?!also, what do you think those rocks that the skeletons had represent?
some people have come up w/this theory that Locke is god. i found it weird, but it makes sense.
"He experiences a "miracle" of sorts himself with the being able to walk thing. Then the first time Jack thinks he sees something weird in the jungle and takes off after it, out comes Locke with the animal he killed. The second time Jack thinks he sees something in the jungle and takes off after it, who is it who saves him when he slips down the hill? Locke!
And then tonight with Charlie. He gets Charlie to "step out on faith" and give up the drugs. Then he somehow knows that the guitar is up there in the tree.
His character has all these "Godlike" characteristics -- a comforter, a healer, a refuge and strength, "ever present in times of trouble" and so on. I don't know, I'm not trying to get too deep into the religious/Christian references but they seem so present on some level in each episode.
I haven't worked this all out but that's where I'm headed based on what I've seen so far. Locke is God and Jack is Jesus (come on, his last name on the show is "Shepherd"!)"
not if you go by this..

If Locke is God and Jack is Jesus.... then....
Kate is Mary Magdeline! oooooooo!
Think about it. She's a "fallen woman" who is redeeming herself and befriending Jack (Jesus)
Think Jack and Kate are getting together? Well so did Jesus and Mary.
ooooooooo.

Scenario 4: Jack's the New Adam, Kate's the New Eve
Just hear us out, here. For those of you who slept through philosophy class, Lost's bald, knife-toting frustrated office-drone Locke clearly refers to the great Enlightenment thinker John Locke.
one of the episodes was called Tabula Rasa!
E! theory
HAHA! thanks for that. Lost couldnt come on a better day :)next week seems AWESOME. who hit sayid?
I say it was Locke. I don't know why he would do that, but I just have a feeling. Or maybe the little boy.
I think we won't find out who hit him for a few more weeks
Bway_ - glad I made you smile with that Bush comment
