It's a two hour special before the show - recap, but behind the scenes stuff and interviews I believe.

I'm withholding all judgments about unanswered questions until 11:30 Sunday night. If they're not answered by then, I'll be mad then, but I'm letting them show us what they want, and I think most of the big ones WILL be covered. After all, like you said, romantico, they knew they had an end to work towards - leaving such a loyal fan base pissed off because they decided to say "screw you" on the big answers would be a HUGE mistake and ruin the legacy of the show. I don't think they're that self-destructive...

It's starting to look like a couple of those middle seasons could've been jumped over.

Did they really explain the wheel in the cave with the light? They barely touched on it,but not many details were given.

I think they explained the wheel pretty much. MIB talked about finding this spot and putting a wheel on it to get off the island. Clearly he made it happen at some later point, because it exists in the present and Ben used it to get off the island and move it. I'm guessing that something about being the Smoke Monster keeps the MIB from using it himself.

I'm pretty greedy when it comes to unanswered questions. I have been a loyal viewer since the show aired. They have had the luxury so many shows do not and that's actually knowing when the series will end. They have had years to wrap things up neatly and it seems like they have been sloppy with the details. The fans made the show and to come out and say,'sorry, not enough time to answer all the questions' is total BS!

I've found the depth of detail people want answered to be a little staggering. I mean -- yes, there are some big questions I want answers to. A lot I fully expect to get resolved on Sunday. Some I'm not so sure we will, like the fertility issues on the island. But there are a lot of details that I've heard people saying they need that I think are pretty unimportant. If you wring out every tiny little answer from the show, you'll just take all the magic and mythology out of it. (And trust me, I'm in the same boat -- I've been watching this show since the pilot aired!)

But Jason is right -- judgment should be withheld until we see what they DO reveal on Sunday. And then we can argue about what details they should have revealed and which ones don't matter. Lost tonight(spoilers)

Sorry, but the wheel explanation was hardly an answer. How exactly does the wheel transfer you off the island? Ben turned it and showed up in Africa I believe. It was very cold in the cave. Ben even had to wear a heavy coat and break ice off the wheel to turn it. Makes no sense. They need to give us more.

Hey, they created these little mysteries to keep the viewers interested. To forget or ignore them is total BS.Most of those 50 questions I feel should be answered. What about that couple who they introduced who got bit by a spider? They were buried alive but nothing ever came of it. So, why even introduce them? Why waste the time. This is what happens when you have too many writers creating scenarios that have nothing to do with the overall story. LOST is a great show and unlike most out there. Because of that, I expect them to answer some basic questions clearly.I am withholding judgment until Sunday. Although, I am nervous. I had hoped a little more would have been answered by now but I am still really excited to see how they wrap this up.

I know it's dangerous to post these sort of messages, but here goes...

From an insider source on the island,
He's extremely satisfied with how the series wraps up. Tho, has said that there will be many unanswered questions. He feels like it was unrealistic for everything to be answered.

Personally, I don't want all the answers. That's been part of the fun of the show for me - getting to theorize and compare notes. Wrapping it all up in a nice little bundle would be a little bit of a buzz kill - again, for me personally. I can certainly understand other viewers wanting more answers.

I agree, the whole "Jack becoming the new Jacob" seemed a little too easy for me. Somethings gonna happen to change that. I love the idea (I think romantico brought up) of Ben becoming the new Jacob!

The creators have admitted Nikki and Paulo were a mistake. They put them in as "stalls" basically, and knew they were hated so killed them off. Their story was one that prompted them to get an actual END date for the series.

The fertility one is kind of a big deal though - I'd be surprised if they leave that unanswered. Like I said, that was a MAJOR driving force for three seasons - they really SHOULDN'T just drop that one...

Sorry, but the wheel explanation was hardly an answer. How exactly does the wheel transfer you off the island?

It taps into the awesome innate power of the light at the heart of the island. I mean -- what more are you looking for? A scientific explanation of what quality of matter this light actually is? I feel like more explanation of how the light works past what we already have is just like George Lucas creating midichlorians in the Star Wars prequels to take all the magic out of the Force. There comes a certain point where you have to accept the mythology going on. Let's face it. There is a warm light at the heart of the island that is somehow the source of life and rebirth and all of these great things. It is designed to be epic and mysterious and mythological. There's not going to be an explanation of how it works.

A lot of the questions on that list I posted I frankly thought were stupidly nagging. (Several of them I already have answers for and others I think the writer just wants too much specifics out of.)

But to be clear: I'm not saying people should have no questions or that people shouldn't expect answers. I'm saying that I've found the level of demand for answers to every small detail in the show to be a little much. To draw from the list of questions I posted: why is the brand on Juliet's back important? Or who built the door to the stone wall at the Dharma camp? Or what the Others were having Kate and Sawyer build in season three? If they had really gone into this season and started answering every tiny questions, we'd just have a season of slowly ringing the mystery out of Lost with little attention paid to anything else. And giving too many answers can be just as dangerous as giving too few: tons of people complained about that in the finale of Battlestar Galactica. When you have a show where mystery is a key component, it serves the piece better to leave it with a little mystery at the end.

Still. There are some major questions I'd still like answered. The fertility issues, Desmond's sacrifice, what the hell was up with Libby at Hurley's psych hospital, more on what exactly the Rules are (both in terms of Jacob/MIB and Ben/Widmore), the importance of children (particularly WALT omg, and, to a lesser extent, Aaron), and more on Charles Widmore's motivations. Then the questions with the sideways world: how is it going to reconcile with the first timeline and how did the island sink. I'm pretty sure I'm not even going to get all of those, but I don't feel a strong urge to get any answers beyond those (that I can think of off the top of my head).

if I remember from the podcast and interviews... damon and carlton said that the only questions that are really going to be answered are the ones that the characters are asking and not the audience... they basically said if it's important for the characters to know and then it'll be addressed...

btw... i wonder how Vincent is going to pop back up in the series... he's supposed to make an appearance! maybe he kills the MIB.. haha..

"Or what the Others were having Kate and Sawyer build in season three?"

I thought it was already established that it was the runway that they were building. As in the runway Lapidus eventually uses to get the majority of the candidates back to the Island. But I might have that wrong.

Like others have said, I will hold off any complaints about questions left unanswered until after Sunday. I know they can't do a show that satisfies everyone, but it seems like no matter how many answers they try to pack into an episode, people still complain about what is still left to be answered. While it's true that Lost, much like a black & white Lucy, still has a lot of 'splaining to do. That being said, I am shocked at the amount of answers we already have. The whispers, the donkey wheel, the smoke monster, Adam & Eve, Richard, the numbers, the reason they were chosen, even the power of the island to a large extent [which can serve to answer larger questions like how it heals, the fertility issues, why MIB leaving is bad, etc.] - these are all questions we've had for a while and to finally have those answers is enough for me.

Can't wait for Sunday. It's so weird to think that after this week is over, so is Lost.

I'll hold off judgment til Sunday as well. Still, the wheel explanation is lame.It was not me or the fans who made this part of the plot during the season finale that year. I stayed interested hoping questions like this would be answered and sorry, assuming or guessing what it could be is not enough. I agree, some questions do not need to be answered. However the ones they created to lure viewers and create a mystery (like how the hell did Ben leave the island by turning a lame wheel and how did the island move because of it) is not asking too much.

romantico - like I said, I completely agree - some of the big answers NEED to be covered. We already HAVE had a lot of answers, but most of the major ones either need to be explicitly answered or at least able to be deduced.

I'm not so sure that the explanation of the light covers the fertility issue though -- if anything, that seems to be contradictory to the idea. Hell, they could tell us a voodoo priestess but a spell on the island that prevented births and I would go along with it, but because that mystery was so central, it NEEDS to be answered.

Something like the Hurley-bird -- meh. BUT - if Hurley turns out to be the ultimate island protector as I think he will be, that will be enough of an implied answer for me!

I went to the TimesTalk event and it was really great. There were a few accidental spoilers and a short clip from the finale. The clip was great and everyone in my (sold-out) theater was itching for more. Michael Emerson and Jorge Garcia showed up and helped answer some fan questions.

The questions kind of covered territory we've heard before and many also (rather stupidly) regarded the finale. I didn't understand the logic and I don't think Damon and Carlton did either. Why ask a question about the finale? Did you REALLY think they were going to tell you the answer?

The answers provided quite a lot of insight into the creative process of the writing team as well as a few "answers"

Highlights:
-Aaron isn't really special. Explanation being that the psychic was a quack.
-Walt is special in the vein of Hurley and Miles...but that's basically all they told us. He wasn't further explored because of Malcolm David Kelley's appearance.
*SPOILER* He will be showing up in the finale *SPOILER*
-The three "alternate endings" on Jimmy Kimmel are not legitimate endings, but they are "original" and "very funny"
