Jason, but Aaron was conceived off-island. baby Kwon was conceived on-island to the previously infertile Jin.
Right, but remember the psychic saying Claire needed to raise Aaron herself....?
I have a feeling that Claire is going to kill MIB or stop him...did you see her face when he told her the sub had sunk...I think she is gonna be huge in the endgame
Something I noticed -- the four who survived the sub - Jack, Sawyer, Kate, and Hurley - were the same four on Ben's list from Jacob in the season 2 finale. I wonder if there's a connection?
WORST.
EPISODE.
EVER.
You're gonna kill off my favorite character? Well, I don't want to watch you anymore, Lost!
Sayid is dead, but Frank is not. in an interview Darlton gave after the finale they mentioned specifically Jin Sun and Sayid being dead. no talk of Frank. i know he's not a major character but they would have acknowledged it somehow.
that is interesting jasonf

I hope you're just being dramatic Jordan because you'll be the one missing out in the end.
On that note, it's interesting that there has been so much negative criticism about this episode. So many people are claiming it was a bad episode. Honestly? Because of what, the deaths? How does that make it a bad episode? Sure it was sad, but it made complete sense in the context of the show. In fact, this episode was a vast improvement over the majority of season 6's episodes.
A lot of people I know also criticized Jin's decision to stay with Sun as "selfish." Best way to show how false that statement is is to quote Doc Jensen's EW column:
"You mean to tell me that you think Jin would be a better man if he lived the rest of his life wracked with guilt over letting his wife die alone? Let me rephrase: How do you think Ji Yeon will feel when she gets old enough to realize that her father chose her over her mother? I suppose she might say, 'Wow! Thanks, Daddy! I feel special! I feel loved!' But if she was any kind of thoughtful, sensitive, normal person, I suspect she'd follow that up with: 'Wow. Now I kinda feel like crap. My dad chose me over his true love. He's never gotten over it. Does he secretly hate me? Does he blame me for his misery? Probably not, because my dad is kick-ass cool! He knows martial arts and catches fish! But has he never been able to love me fully because every time he looks at me he sees a choice he regrets? That's very possible, if not extremely likely. Now I have to live the rest of my life burdened with this guilt. Thanks, Dad. And thanks, Dead Mom. Thanks a lot!'
"I hope you're just being dramatic Jordan because you'll be the one missing out in the end."
I really don't know. That pissed me off big time, killing Sun. Since day one she's been my favorite character and I just thought killing her off was a ridiculous decision.

But at least she, along with the others who have died, is still alive and kicking in the Sideways world. Maybe that will become the end-result world at 11:29PM on May 23rd!
I'm sure the decision to kill off Sun and Jin was just as hard to make as it was to watch. But something serious needed to happen in order for the castaways to see Smokey's true intentions. For the Kwons and Sayid to be the victims seemed reasonable to me. I think all three characters had reached the ends of their Island character arcs and their deaths were for the benefit of the others.
I really think that the Kwon's death was foreshadowed by the that scene at the end of season 2. I've thought for a very long time that Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley would be four of the last alive. I would look for Claire to die as well at this point.
The writers earned those deaths, sad though they were.

Listen to the LOST podcast... Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof talk about the deaths of Sun, Jin and Sayid... and as a poster said... basically after their deaths we now know the intentions of the MIB... we know that he is now the antagonist... it's been a little iffy but we for sure now know... and with the deaths of Jin and Sin, it really pushes the survivors to really finish what was started... the emotional pull of the their deaths (i mean, just look at hurley's reaction and then jack's... pretty good stuff) just really got to the survivors...
I am bumping for tomorrow but I thought this was cool it's about Lost's musical score by Michael Giacchino. I am very proud of him. He is from my home town and played in my high school's pit when we did a chorus line.
My favorite piece of Lost soundtrack is the music they have played when someone has dies and Penny and Desmonds theme...what is yours?
cool

If that concert doesn't make its way to NY I'm going to be crushed. Michael Giacchino's music is fantastic.

So do you think that Alison J. is going to be the Man in Black's crazy mother?
wow so much to process with this episode...I have to watch again....don't know what to think but Allison Janney was freakin awesome
some ideas
Janney probably just won herself another Emmy, this time for Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

Thoughts:
-Janney was awesome, I definitely hope she gets an Emmy nod
-I think she was the previous smoke monster. The carnage inflicted on the camp seemed way too dramatic for a sole human to do and greatly resembled the carnage Smokey's done in past episodes. Also, how would she know that going into the light would lead to a fate worst than death?
-I did NOT see MIB and Mother being Adam and Eve. Plus, would he be Eve? She Adam?
-Nice to see the Donkey wheel revisited.
-I'm surprised Doc Jensen was annoyed by the child actors, I thought they were pretty strong
-Anyone else think Claudia was Isabella at first?
I don't know if I buy Janney being a smoke monster. Mostly because I think there must be some connection between the MIB leaving a body behind and his not being able to be physically hurt now. Because, even when he's taken someone else's form, he's still the smoke monster. Jacob, on the other hand, can be hurt -- can be killed, in fact. Why else would Jacob be able to be stabbed and not MIB? And then Janney was also stabbed, which leads me to think she never ended up going into the light. There are other explanations for how she could have known: she could have witnessed it previously, it could have been handed down to her, etc.
Totally psyched about the donkey wheel. I figure MIB must have planted the idea in whoever showed up to the island next. Why didn't he use it himself?
Also psyched about revisiting Adam and Eve. SUCH a great payoff moment there. (I was expecting it to end up as Rose and Bernard.)
Also I think smokey was always there but not in smokey form...how did ghost Claudia come to the MIB and tell him about his "mother"...I think Allison Janney's character had light and dark in her and she split it in half...Jacob became the light (the guardian) and MIB became the dark(smokey).
Remember they couldn't hurt eachother but they can get people to hurt the other. Also Jacob tried to kill MIB and he became smokey so he couldn't kill him because he became a different manifestations....also Jacob has to be the young boy wandering the woods that scares the crap out of Smokey Locke. I also think the MIB was meant to be the guardian but something corrupted him...thats why he could see Claudia and not Jacob (sounds like Hurley)
I just am not sure what the light is and I am dying to know...again in Lost fashion questions were answered but more questions were brought up..I liked this episode and can't wait to see where this is going to go
That episode was a real "noodle cooker" to borrow Doc Jensen's term. I felt it wasn't entirely successful, but LOST's period pieces never come off as fully believeable I feel. Still it was a lovely nuanced origin tale that made us understand everyone's perspective where no one is clearly evil or good. That is what I think LOST has done so successfully all these years.
A couple of thoughts I've been mulling over all day:
-- Could it be that MIB did die, and by dropping his body in the light it RELEASED the smoke monster? Don't know if that's it - or even close, but could be...
-- Why haven't we gotten MIB's name? There must be a reason the producers are being so coy about it -- will his name tell us something?
-- I love fantasy and mythology - but we need some explanations for things -- what are these rules? How did the mom make it so the boys can't hurt/kill each other? What is the light? What is the wine? Why can't MIB leave? What EXACTLY is the smoke monster at this point?
I've had a lot of faith in Lost that they're going to answer the big questions, but giving half answers is simply not satisfactory. They still have time to answer them, but it seems like they have the potential of leaving an awful lot to "this is it, just accept it."
Take for instance the wine. It gives immortality -- and maybe something more. OK, fine, I can deal with that. But it's just not good story-telling to not explain why. Is the mom a witch? A goddess? Does the wine come from somewhere that grants these powers? There's only so much open they can leave unanswered without being bad story-telling.
I still believe they'll answer these questions - or at least give us enough to understand them ourselves...
That kind of stuff is like, "why did the birds attack Bodega Bay?" and I am good not knowing the answer.
Now, I DO want the answer to these questions and have for a long time:
-Where did the pallet of Dharma food come from in season 2?
-How did Eko, Locke, Desmond, and Charlie survive the Swan Hatch implosion? (I'm guessing this links to what happened at the end of season 5/beginning of season 6, but I'm awaiting something firm.)
-What is Walt? Why did the Others want him? What are the stakes surrounding that whole storyline???
Personally, I think the thing taking up in Locke's body at present is not Jacob's brother. I feel like whatever smoke thing came out of that cave after the brother was tossed in came out with brother's body and dropped it off at the nearby collection of branches where Jacob found him. What that thing is, who can tell? Though, I could be very wrong because all these centuries he is still claiming he wants to leave the island.
I have no doubt that it's really MIB as the smoke monster, even though he left behind some form of his body. If not, the mother's bit about going into the light ending with a fate worse than death doesn't mean anything. The fate worse than death is turning into the smoke monster.
