I am traveling to NYC this weekend for a whirlwind Broadway trip including 5 shows and the Flew Market. I will have about 6 hours between when my flight lands on Friday noon and when my friend, whom I am staying with for the weekend, gets home. So, I am looking for a place to stash my duffel while I get tix via TKTS and do some general sightseeing.

I Googled Luggage storage and the only option that came up was Schwartz Luggage Storage Lockers - but their reviews on Yelp were mixed and usually a bit strange. Do any New Yorkers or recent visitor have any recommendations or knowledge about these services to share? I appreciate any assistance!

I actually did use that service before. It wasn't bad. But, that was a few years ago, so I don't know if anything has changed. But, if you go the the 36th street location, basically they are just a small room with some shelving. But, I don't think anyone but whoever is working there can get behind the counter, if that's what worries you. I think it cost me like $25 for the day for 1 huge suitcase, a laptop in a case, and a backpack.

After 9/11 all of the lockers at the bus and train stations were taken away. One thought is if you have a gym membership at one of the national chains you could use their lockers for free.

I feel like I should start a business out of my HK apartment.

Thanks for the advice and info Marianne2! I think I may go ahead and try it. (just trying to decide if I should even take my laptop... I REALLY need to get some work done this weekend - but I don't want to lug it around and am afraid of leaving it at the storage place).

Pammylicious - I had not thought of that at all! I will look into it. Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken virtually every hotel in the Times Square area has a "luggage room" and they will hold your luggage for a small fee. People have told me that you needn't be staying at their hotel to take advantage of this courtesy.

Try the Edison Hotel luggage room (by the check in desk)

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
