Phyllis, you read my mind. What makes me crazy about the CTA is the unpredictability. Sometimes it takes me 40 minutes to get to work and sometimes an hour and 15.

It seems to be endemic to any/all mass transit operations in any big city.

So basically, commuting sucks and we're all ****ed.

95 is just bad no matter where it is. ct is heinous because they are morons (seriously brain damaged - i was in a 2 mile back-up caused by drivers rubber-necking a fat guy changing a tire, i sh*t you not) and it's inexpicably only two lnes per side there!

i've had plenty of problems on the mta, but i know doggone well that given the cost of everything else it's a bargain. my monthly metrocard is $81. i average no less than 16 rides a week and often more so i'm paying roughly $1.26 a ride. a penny more than what i was paying when i moved here in '94. given the cost of everything else? pretty damn good deal.

does the 7 train screw me once every two weeks? yep. do the 4 and 5 do the same at least once a month? of course. do mta workers get on the subway en masse into one car and fart together before getting off? sure they do. but given the alternative? cab? biking? walking? i'll take the mta and its flaws.

It rarely does for me either. It's only because I boast/posted earlier that my subway karma improved today. And I still have to get home. We'll see what an odyssey that will be.
