Ross"The Intern" from Jay Leno's show, will guest co-host The View on June 14th if Im not mistaken. It seems that Mario Cantone was the 1st male guest co-host. Should be interesting to watch...

Posted: 6/8/07 at 7:41pmSounds like they're getting desperate.
re: Male Guest Co-Host for The View.#2
Posted: 6/9/07 at 12:17amI don't think it has anything to do with being desperate. I never heard of this Ross guy until he was a guest on the view this week. He's flippin' hysterical and would be fun as a host!! I am sure that that's all it is.....

Posted: 6/9/07 at 12:25amok, ok I volunteer to guest host. They just have to pay for my airplane ticket, hotel & arrange for me to go backstage at Rent. Oh and I won't be available until Adam & Anthony are there. :)

Posted: 6/9/07 at 1:13amRoss is a doll. Mario Cantone is by far my favorite male semi-regular on the show, though! I could watch Mario and Kathy G. for hours on end.

Posted: 6/9/07 at 2:03amI find it interesting that Barbara is interested in bringing male co-hosts, also they both happen to be gay, which makes it more interesting, because they are hilarious, and not many gay men talk about politics on TV.
re: Male Guest Co-Host for The View.#8
Posted: 6/9/07 at 2:23amIt's June 17th, not the 14th.
re: Male Guest Co-Host for The View.#9
Posted: 6/9/07 at 2:56amI seem to recall that there was a week where they had a different male co-host every day. One of the men from DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES -- the actor who played Carlos -- was one. It's not a new idea.

Posted: 6/9/07 at 10:34amperez should cohost... that would be hysterical...
re: Male Guest Co-Host for The View.#11
Posted: 6/9/07 at 11:03amWell, they're not after the straight-male audience, that's for sure! Apparently, The View's target audience is women and gay men, so it makes sense.

Ross is just adorable.
You should check out his video blog with Rosie - just makes you smile.
He seems like such a sweet soul - someone you just want to do well!
I may have to TIVO the View just for him!

"perez should cohost... that would be hysterical..."
How would it be even a LITTLE bit funny? Perez isn't funny in person. The only thing he can do is photoshop, barely.

Posted: 6/9/07 at 3:23pmI don't watch this show, but from what I understand, the original intent was to have a forum for a female perspective to be shared. If that's the case, the addition of a male voice, even a gay one, would seem to be counter-productive, no?

You know, I thought that Barbara wanted "Women of different generations to talk about current issues", but I was watching one of Rosie's past shows on The View and Barbara Walters said "I wanted PEOPLE of different generations to talk about current issues"
Anyways, Mario Cantone was a guest co-host already.

Gotcha - as I said, I don't watch. I tried once, and couldn't stand all the talking 'over' one another. All I could think of was the "Never Let A Woman In Your Life" number from MY FAIR LADY

The show will never hire a male panelist full time as it would go against the initial vision of the concept as concieved by Walters herself (to provide a mainstream voice for women.)
While they are having some fun by using men as guest co-hosts, I can assure you that both new additions to the panel in the fall will be women.
