I was never fond of this while it was broadcast. I saw some a number of scenes the other night and see this in a whole new light. {Could it be BWW?]

Eunice, driven to madness by Mama.

Mama, impervious to anything thrown her way.

The husband, beaten on both sides by both women.

"See, Mama, ...ring this little bell and say, 'Sawwwwww-reeeee.'"

"I'm OK, and you're OK. I'm OK, and you're OK."

"...I bless my foe, and let him go."

"Mama!"

Who didn't? He was WAY hotter that Bud and Sonya! And Betty as "my darlin Ellen"

And I can't enough good stuff about Dorothy "Opal's Glamorama" Lyman...a great actress! How many Daytime Emmys did she win for that?

I grew up on AMC! Greg and Jenny (stay off that JetSki!) Jesse and Angie--the fabulous Darnell Williams and Debi Morgan! Myrtle and Phoebe....Palmer....was also a HUGE ATWT fan--even wrote Liz Hubbard a fan note and she answered! I still have her very sweet note! And I had an enormous crush on Holden (Jon Hensley) I remember when Julianne Moore played Frannie/Sabrina and won an Emmy...

Doggie, are we talking about the same show? The one that started as part of The Carol Burnett Show?
As The World Turns? huh????

I remember Jenny and the jetski.
Myrtle was Queen Gertrude in the Laurence Olivier 'Hamlet'.
I was more a OLTL person. Many of the girls from NINE were on that show and I had a huge crush on Brad.

A minor threadjack, Jose...get a grip...

But just to satisfy your OCD:

Am I the only one who thinks Iola was a lesbian? She was an improvement, however, over Rue's poorly written Aunt Fran--Miss McClanahan deserved so much better...

I know that we mentioned this on another thread:

1 2 3 4 Slide.....

The effect of Mama's Family on my siblings is that at the end of Happy Birthday - we always sing the obnoxious "Blow out the Candles and Make a Wish." that they did on Mama's Family.

I used to watch Mama's Family a lot. I'm not sure how good of a show it really was, but the cast made it worth it.

Plus, it always reminds me or my grandmother; she was a big fan. I think she saw herself as Mama, not exactly the greatest role model, but there it was.

I especially loved the Mrs. Raytown Pageant.

Most of you probably know this, but Carol was the first choice to play Mama, but she and Vicki switched parts, and TV history was made.

Quite possibly one of my favorite shows EVER!

"Well, I'll bet the neighbors are just lovin' this!"

Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

MUCH better connotation, huh? What's he up to these days I wonder? Iola was also on Major Dad and Dorothy is a director and does occasional stage work as well. She's gay in real life, isn't she?

Oh. my. God. You have all just made my day, seriously. I was addicted to this show as a kid and almost hate that I don't have to be up at 6 am (the only time they show it in my area). Buzz was a gee-golly weenie and Sonia was a bratty stoner...bring on the dopey hot Bubba any day. I didn't like when it went to syndication and Eunice stopped making cameos.

This was my favorite show to watch whenever I was home from school (sick or having the day off). I can't even pick a favorite episode. I always loved Naomi and Mama arguing.

Iola was SUCH a lesbian, and Bubba was clearly gay.

I loved whenever Betty White played Ellen. Rue really did get a bad role, but it was kind of fun whenever they would be in a scene together because I would look at it like, "Rose and Blanch are Aunt and Niece? Huh?"

I remember when Vicki had her short-lived Talk Show, she dressed up as Mama one time and sat in her own audience. lol It was histerical.

I always loved Naomi's off-the-shoulder fashions too!

I also enjoyed Vicki's talk show--she's made quite a nice living off the Nunsense franchise in Branson, has she not?

I thought I was the only one who ever watched this show. re: Mama's Family

I actually took my parents to one of Vicki's one-, er, two-woman shows, where she comes out as Mama in the second half. A lot of fun!

Didn't Anne Haney (who played the preacher's wife) die not too long ago?

Y'all can tell Allan Kayser how ya feel...
I think he looks better now than he did then...but actually had a bigger crush on Ken Berry (more for when he danced on The Carol Burnett Show)

I LOVED Dorothy Lyman on AMC as a teenager, but kinda think she stinks as Naomi...and I am actually up at 6am to watch it on TBS ;(
