Why does she always play supporting roles? She's a really great actress, but the size of the roles she gets don't equal the size of her talent. Like What Women Want, she was only in that for about 3 seconds! And Matt_G, how come you don't like her? Updated On: 10/25/04 at 10:02 PM

Too bad Matt's not logged on right now. I'm kind of curious about that, too. Maybe the Oscar win...?
George (in "Seinfeld") had the hots for Marisa Tomei.
She even played herself in one episode.
I immediately thought "MATT_G!" when I saw this thread. Updated On: 10/25/04 at 10:04 PM
OH. HELL. NO.
The reason she only plays supporting roles is that nobody in their right mind would want to work with her longer than they absolutely had to.
Below is one of the very first posts I ever made here.
My WORST Stagedoor Experinece
Posted On:5/1/04 at 07:40:50 PM
My worst experience happened in 1998 when I saw WAIT UNTIL DARK with Marisa Tomei. My friend and I had waited for about an hour and a half for her and Quentin Tarantino to come out and they both did together finally. There weren't a ton of people there at that point, maybe 20 or so. Marisa came out first and walked past and I said "Miss Tomei, can I have please have your autograph? You were wonderful!" She stoped dead in her tracks and slowly turned her head back and looked at me for a second. She walked over to me and looked like she's thinking for a second than said. "No". and walks away past everyone else. Quentin was standing there completely shocked and apologized to me for her. He was very sweet. But to this day, I refer to her as the rudest person I've ever met.

I think sometimes we confuse the artist with the person.
Some artists enjoy their fans and interact well with them--some don't.
For many, performing is just another job like being a stockbroker or a waitress.
wow. What a b*tch.
Also, who is she? The name sounds familiar but I cant think of what she was in!
M_E, that's complete and utter bullsh*t. It's one thing to not like to interact with fans, but it's another to be blatently rude to the point of having their co-stars apologizing for their behavior.
I still have the ultra, sexy, wet, hots for her.
yumyumyummmm
EDIT: blech....gross...marisa who?....i love you, matt.
Nugget, you delete that IMMEDIATELY or you will be on my eternal sh*t list.
Matt,
She could've been having a bad night. She could've not been feeling well.
Many performers are shy in public--sometimes shyness comes across as being rude.
Ignoring you would have been one thing, Matt_G, but it's like she went out of her way to be rude to your face.
If QT apologized for her, do you think it was something bizarre and uncharacteristic, or is she just a McTwatenstein in general?
That's the thing. She is considered to be a very rude person in general to everyone. I've spoken to MANY people who received much worse than I got.
She's a horrible human being. Plain and simple.
There is a difference between the "idina shy" everyone talks about and flat out being rude. If you are having an off night go the other way and avoid the stage door.

That must have been awful Matt - I can see it still hurts after 6 years! Has she redeemed herself to you with any of her performances? You must have liked her to wait an hour and a half, no? Still, grudges are fun... Updated On: 10/25/04 at 10:20 PM
Yikes! Well it certainly puts that supposed supporting-actress-winner curse stuff in perspective.

I remember that post, Matt.
Damn, I can't believe I joined before you.
she's very hot, but that just sounded mean
She's just awful in that star-crossed lover flick w/ Robert Downey, Jr. and Kyra Sedgwick. (And Billy Zane. I love Billy Zane.)
Anyway, her delivery of EVERY LINE is this breathless, wanna-be-ingenue, floaty crap. Sucko.
I've always been a big fan of hers, I thought she was really good in My Cousin Vinnie and In the Bedroom. After hearing Matt's story, though, I don't know...that doesn't make me think so highly of her. But maybe she was just having a bad day. We don't know what's going in performer's lives off-stage. She may have been going through some tough personal things that we don't know about that would make her snappy.
You know, I've had the trots quite a few times and all I want to do is get where I need to go. I don't have time to stop dead in my tracks. Turn around and slowly walk back to someone to be rude to them.
lol. RobbO, thanks for that. I really needed a good laugh!
so i heard that on the set of in the bedroom, they did that scene where sissy spacek slaps her across the face so many times marisa had to take a break to ice her cheek, but then they ended up going with the 1st take... enjoy that matt? hahaha
