What do you all think? I wonder if it will actually happen... Updated On: 7/19/04 at 11:04 AM

I say UH OH MARTHA!
Now that line from "Connie and Carla" makes sense now.
"Honey! Martha Stewart's prison collection!"
Martha had my sympathy but comparing herself to Nelson Mandela was a tad arrogant. She'll do some time in a minimum security prison and the rest in one of her estates. It could have been much worse for her.
Did anyone see the news after she was sentenced and they showed the prison and where she would be and detailed what her prison responsibilities would be? She'll either be doing laundrey, cleaning floors or serving food. I hope she gets the serving position, personally. She could be a prison hostess.
NYU... I love ya babe, but can you fix the subject line of this thread, it's driving me crazy!
"Prison" or "Jail" :)
Yay for spelling Nazis. I happen to be one as well.
Normally I am OK with it. When it's in the title, I twitch.

I couldn't believe her interview with Barbara Walters...it sounds like Martha is in denial that she'll be in a prison setting. She was comparing it to camping...!

I don't think she was comparing herself to Mandela. I think she was saying this is a man who spent nearly thirty years in jail, and I'm going to be spending five months.
I find this whole case so absurd. Much ado about nothing. This woman gets five months, but a man who sent soldiers into an unjustified war to be killed gets no prison time?
I do not understand the venom spewed at her.
Honestly, she does not deserve jail time for this. Prisons are overcrowded enough and there are worse crimes than this commited down the street from me any night of the week.

Matt,
While I agree there are much worse crimes, this is still a crime. Theyre just making an 'example' of her. Like look what we did to this really well known, good woman... imagine what we'll do to you.

But what is the example? Don't lie (assuming she lied)or you'll be found guilty in a trial that had a prosecution witness who perjured himself, a witness who was a known drug user, AND a juror who lied, and then relished the fact that he brought you down? Even the sentencing guidelines for her crime are under scrutiny. The whole thing was a waste of time and money regardless of the example they wanted to create.
I think Martha is putting on an act. After she was sentenced, she was saying she felt sorry for the "200 people who lost their jobs." Bull! It's easy for her to say because she is a millionaire who could care less about who she steps on. So just because she got caught she feels sorry? Had she not been caught, would she still feel sorry? And she goes on to say, "I hope you all still buy products from my company." (not exact quote) It's an act and I don't sympathize for her.

Your message doesn't even make sense. IF she had not been caught, the 200 people would not have lost their jobs. Why would she have felt sorry for something that didn't happen? This is a woman who worked her way to the top. She built a successful business, and now she sees it taken away over nonsense. If I were her, I wouldn't be thinking about others. I'd be thinking about the immense loss I suffered. And why shouldn't she advertise for a company that she built? She doesn't want the business to collapse. She wants it to thrive unless, of course, it's now a crime for someone with money to want his/her business to prosper.
