PalJoey - shut your trap right now. A hate crime and an act of terrorism are not exclusive of each other. One can be the other, and vice versa. It was, in fact, a hate crime. It was also, in fact, an act of terror. It meets the textbook definition for both classifications. Move on and focus on the victims or the motive or the means or what we can do. Enough of this semantics bullsh*t.

It helps that this guy was a Muslim for the fear mongers, they'll lose sight that this was an American, a twisted homophobe, and a 29 year old loser with anger issues. They immediately have a target rather than the access to weapons, this will be comfortably dismissed.

The guy claimed allegiance to ISIS, and had numerous ties to foreign fighters in Syria. He was also an ISIS sympathizer. That is religious extremism. Plain and simple. If you disagree, then I guess you disagree with the Director of the FBI and the President of the United States. Move on.

You're speaking to the means of the rampage. I am speaking to the motive of the rampage. It was a hate crime. It was also an act of terror. You cannot rewrite or change those facts, which is what you were attempting to do. I made no comment about rounding up Americans who look at websites, so I don't know what the hell you're going on about although I shouldn't be surprised.

It looks like they are considering him a "homegrown extremist". He wasn't following directive from ISIS or any other Islamic terrorist organization. From what they have investigated so far they have found that he supports a jumble of often-conflicting Islamic organizations.
He acted out of his own hatred and madness.
From what I've been reading and seeing one of the reasons he was able to purchase the weapons is that he had no prior criminal record, another was that during his background check his prior investigations by the FBI never showed up because they were closed. If their had been a link/access to that information (the investigations) it would have raised a red flag and the transaction would not have been allowed.
They have to streamline this system of "checks and balances" so that they "talk to each other" to prevent this from happening again, another is for Congress to get off it's ass and put a ban of the sale of automatic rifles. Why would an average citizen even need an automatic rifle to begin with?

He was on the No Fly List, as was at least one of the two San Bernardino shooters. To me it's a "no brainer" to have your access restricted from firearms once placed on the NFL but house Republicans don't feel the same way...

This was terrorism. The fact there is any question about that blows my mind. In any other nation it would be called as much. There are many factors at play here, but those poor innocent kids stood no chance in the face of that automatic weapon.
