Fake America located
In tonight's NBC News interview with Brian Williams, McCain explains that the "elites" are located in D.C. and New York
City:
WILLIAMS: Who is a member of the elite?
PALIN: Oh, I guess just people who think that they're better than anyone else. And-- John McCain and I are so committed to serving every American. Hard-working, middle-class Americans who are so desiring of this economy getting put back on the right track. And winning these wars. And America's starting to reach her potential. And that is opportunity and hope provided everyone equally. So anyone who thinks that they are-- I guess-- better than anyone else, that's-- that's my definition of elitism.
WILLIAMS: So it's not education? It's not income-based? It's--
PALIN: Anyone who thinks that they're better than someone else.
WILLIAMS: --a state of mind? It's not geography?
PALIN: 'Course not.
WILLIAMS: Senator?
MCCAIN: I-- I know where a lot of 'em live. (LAUGH)
WILLIAMS: Where's that?
MCCAIN: Well, in our nation's capital and New York City. I've seen it. I've lived there. I know the town. I know-- I know what a lot of these elitists are. The ones that she never went to a cocktail party with in Georgetown. I'll be very frank with you. Who think that they can dictate what they believe to America rather than let Americans decide for themselves.

I am beginning to get irritated with John McCain and his tireless war on cocktails.
"Who think that they can dictate what they believe to America rather than let Americans decide for themselves."
Wait... isn't that what he's doing right there?
New York City is my hometown, but now I'm a DCer. I'm so proud...and so elite. Now if I could just get other people to recognize it. What is WRONG with all of these people I am so much better than???
Wow, so being an elitist is having self-esteem? Aren't they elitist if they feel they are better and more qualified than everyone else to be president?

So to the un-Americans, Sarah Palin is elite? Must be cause she's said she's better than the un-Americans so so so many times.
NYC and DC--the target cities on 9/11
i'm so elite... lived in dc and now in nyc... feels good.

So two people who have spent a lot of time and money dictating what they believe to America don't like people who dictate what they believe to America.
Makes as much sense as anything else these psychopaths have come up with lately.
Such modesty from the woman wearing Manohlos. Touching, really.

But Barack is from Chicago - the heartland! That's not elite!
Oh wait - he lives in the Hyde Park neighborhood - where the terrorists like Ayers live...
So, I guess anyone who attends U. of I.-Chicago, where Ayers teaches, consorts with terrorists!
And Obama used to teach law at the University of Chicago - where they invented the atom bomb! The one that AMERICA dropped on our enemies. The one that no other country has ever used.
I'm so confused... being a college professor is Un-American?
Elite to me is not remembering how many houses one owns or going on $150,000 shopping sprees at Needless Markup and Macy's.
Who think that they can dictate what they believe to America rather than let Americans decide for themselves.
Pot, this is kettle.
And, really, John McCain, owner of 17 houses and the best smug expression in the nation... not elite? Really? Oh, excuse me, he's not better than everyone else; he's just better than Barack Obama.
I can't wait for all this BS to be over.
What I don't get is why people don't want the 'elite' as leaders. Some of our greatest presidents never would have been elected. You would want an 'elite' doctor to perform a risky surgical procedure, not an average everyday doctor that you'd most want to have a beer with and who doesn't make you feel stupid and uneducated.
*Preaches to the choir*
If the elite includes anyone who thinks they're better than someone else, doesn't that, by definition, include anyone who runs for President or VP?
This is the most RIDICULOUS thing I have heard! McCain is certainly considered in the elite since his wife is worth about 100 million! From the smug faces I have seen on so many of the Republican pundits and candidates, I think they certainly portray an elitist attitude! I missed the interview tonight so I'll have to find a recap. I can't wait for all of this crap to stop!

Why do we feel the need to defend ourselves against this garbage? Aren't New York and D.C. rather tired targets even for the GOP? Yeah, yeah, yeah, Republicans are all "regular people", not like us snotty urban sophisticates, blah, blah, blah--if McCain had faltered in his lines, the audience could have prompted him. Isn't it time to give this particular VERY OLD line of attack a rest?

"...who are so desiring of this economy getting put back on the right track..."
I don't think I've ever encountered a native English speaker who structures sentences this way when speaking.
Priscilla: This is not a cheer-ocracy, I am the cheer-tator, I will make the cheer-isions around here, and I will deal with the cheer-onsequences.

She'll have to return them after the election.
Namo, I was thinking the same thing about that sentence!
I'm with roquat, I think this is so silly that I feel really no need to defend myself. Hasn't the I'm looking out for the little guy stance already been taken by a canidate? I could've sworn I saw another guy talking in the same way, only he did it without sounding like an idiot.

"She'll have to return (the Manohlos) after the election."
Of course she will. She's such a stickler for following the letter of the law. She wouldn't be involved in anything unsavory like keeping the $150,000 worth of clothes purchased for her at those elite stores in that elite city.
I grew up in NYC, but now I live in NJ, about 12 miles west of the city. I'm confused, am I still an elite, or am I an ex-elite, or maybe even a sub-elite.
My middle name is 'Acela' if that tells you anything.
F*ck McShame and his cheerleader!
