Meet PWR BTTM!

My favorite new rock band of the last year has, kind of surprisingly all things considered (get it?), just got a sort of seal of approval from NPR.

I saw PWR BTTM open for Amanda Palmer exactly a year ago during the New England Snow Mishegas of 2015 and went back the following week to see her again because I LOVED PWR BTTM so much. Just a single guitar and a drum kit, but so funny and talented. I took notes so I could remember the between song banter. I bought a t-shirt and the ink was still wet because they had screened them the night before on their kitchen table. Because DIY!!!!

The second night of the Palmer residency they helped Amanda out with a cover of "Midnight Radio." It wasn't particularly good, but they all tried real hard.

I'm glad they're building an audience, they're a blast.

They're a shambolic rock duo and funny gay guys. A year ago it wasn't a tight choreographed pop extravaganza but it was a blast.

I found my notes on my phone of things they said that made me laugh:

We're from Boston but now we live in upstate New York with a bunch of old gays and antiques.

We're going to be doing a couple songs with Amanda Palmer, which should be a challenge because I'm a narcissist.

And my very favorite:

Eating a Necco Wafer is like eating my relationship with my dad. It's there but it's not there. And it would be so much better if either of us were trying.

I just pulled them up on Spotify. They're great.

Oh my god! I just realized those queens close out their album with a song called House in Virginia! I am laughing OL.

Ha ha. Isn't that funny? Considering what a tear I went on about that?! Also, I forgave Jonathan once I saw Hamilton. And played some board games. You know, good old fashioned board games?

I'm going to check tthem out as soon as I get home! They are named after my favorite category of homo peoples. How could I not love them?
