Thank you for the compliment Princeton. Have you been MBCOFTD yet?!? I may just have to nominate you for that!

What is your favorite part of the process of being in a theatrical production?

Well, that’s a tough one. I really enjoy rehearsal—exploring and learning and creating—but there was a moment I discovered recently. It’s the moment in the first few on stage when the nerves suddenly disappear, and you trust the work that you and others have done. It’s a great feeling.

What's your alcoholic drink of choice?

We drink a lot of wine at my house, and we enjoy finding good, inexpensive bottles. (We also enjoy good, expensive bottles, but we don’t have those as often!) I am partial to big, bold reds. As for cocktails, I will have an Absolut Pepar dirty martini, very dry.

What makes you happy?

I have a wonderful family that includes a biological family and a family of choice. They are a great pleasure. My relationship with the living God is a source of great joy for me. Of course, being in a theater makes me tingly all over …

Where do you go to be alone?

I have a recliner in the corner of my room where I can sit and read, write, watch television, play on the computer … of course, my dog, Truman, is usually curled up on the bed next to me. He knows I am an extrovert and don’t ever want to be truly alone!

Thanks! This is fun, but if ever I was going to get fired for spending too much time on-line, it would be today!

Other than Dmitry, who are your favorite performers?

Emily Skinner, Alice Ripley, Kristin Chenoweth, John Barrowman … Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada reminded me why she has long been a favorite actor of mine, as did Kevin Spacey in Superman Returns. The more I see Johnny Depp, the more I think he is brilliant.

What's your Starbucks order?

Believe it or not, I do not drink coffee, and I avoid caffeinated beverages altogether. So, if I do go to Starbucks, which is rarely, it will be something decaffeinated.

What's your favorite ice cream?

Piedmontese Crème gelato from Paciugo

Who will win - Dmitry or Benji?

That is a tough call. So far, I think Benji has shown more versatility, but Dmitry is a judge and fan favorite. However, there are a several of the girls—Allison, Donyelle and Martha—who have a shot as well.

If you were a car, what car would you be and why?

One with air conditioning, because mine does not have any!

If you could have anyone over for dinner, who would it be and what would you serve them?

Oh, goodness! We often have people over for dinner. With an Italian in my immediate family of choice, our table is often filled with people and covered with some wonderful dish that he has thrown together. Now, if this was a fantasy dinner party, I would love to be able to have my mother, who died in 1992, along with my seven nieces and one nephew share a meal together, in which case, I am sure the menu would include mac and cheese or pizza!

Thanks Jerby, the ONLY person I have met from BWW!

What is your ideal meal? And your favourite comfort food dish?

Well, my Sunday dinner most often consists of sushi at my favorite sushi place. There will be a bottle or two of wine, usually a sweeter white. (One of the few times I drink white or sweet, but it goes very well with the spicy sushi.) If I am really lucky, there will be a trip to Paciugo for gelato after dinner, which, I suppose, is one of my favorite comfort food, though I don't usually use food for comfort.

what is a living god? and what is the alternative?

For me, a Christian, the phrase "living God" implies that God is still among us in the presence of the Holy Spirit. A good way to illustrate this is the United Church of Christ's "StillSpeaking" campaign. It is based on a quote from Gracie Allen: "Never place a period where God has placed a comma." I believe that God is still speaking to us, if only we will take the time to listen. It is the Living God that meets me in worship on Sunday morning and sustains me through the week, good or bad. There are many alternatives; this is the one that makes the most sense for me.

Oh, SweetQ, please don't go easy on me ...

Message Board Celebrity of the Day - DBillyP

1. Would you rather be a nun or a prostitute?

Well, I think the Catholic church has created a wealth of problems with its sex-negative stances. I also think that prostitution should be legalized, so I guess I would be a prostitute.

2. In your house, what is the most 'sexual' thing you have?

My computer?

3. Have you ever used an eraser for anything except erase?

I don't think so ...

4. What is the weirdest thing you learned in health class

This is a tough question; health class was a long time ago. The pictures of various venereal diseases were pretty weird.

5. Would you rather swim in the ocean with your best guy friend or your best girl friend?

Guy friend.

6. If your significant other jumped off a cruise ship- would you jump too?

How much of the cruise is left?!?

7. If your doorbell rang and you opened up to see a zebra, what would be the first thing you do- (except close the door)

Step away from the alcohol ...

8. If you had to pick, would you rather smell gasoline or flatulence?

Gasoline.

9.Do you enjoy popping bubble wrap?

Oh yes, and I don't trust those who don't!

10. If you were able to kill either Saddam Huessein or Osama Bin Laden- who would you choose?

Neither ... as a pacifist, I could not take another life, nor do I believe in the death penalty.

If you were recuperating in a hospital, who would you want in the bed next to you, excluding relatives?

What has given you the most pleasure in the last year?

What's something that we would be surprised to learn about you?

If your house were on fire, what would you grab on the way out?

If we asked an important person in your life to describe you, what would he or she say? How accurate would it be?

What’s something that you’ve never done, but have always wanted to try?

What’s the last great gift that you gave someone? And, that you were given?

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

Thanks DG. I really appreciate that. I don't think it comes as any surprise that one of those five is the voice of Jesus. In no way do I think Jesus is the only way, but His example is the one that works best for me.

Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Gandhi for their messages of non-violence and peace.

Rev. Michael Piazza for his way of explaining God's inclusive love as it pertains to lesbians and gays. (Yes, that's my boss.)

Maya Angelou for her brilliant way of using language.

There are so many others ...

Thanks Shameless.

If you were recuperating in a hospital, who would you want in the bed next to you, excluding relatives?

A great conversationalist who also understands the value of quiet time.

What has given you the most pleasure in the last year?

Seeing my sister get married to a wonderful man. I love spending time with my family, and, with three brothers and a sister, their spouses and seven nieces and a nephew, it is rare that we can spend any time together. What a great reason to do so!

What's something that we would be surprised to learn about you?

Well, certainly not that I am a bleeding heart liberal Christian ... maybe that, despite quite a bit of musical theater on my resume, I really am not a good singer.

If your house were on fire, what would you grab on the way out?

I am looking around my room, and there is no possession for which I would risk my life. As long as Mike and Bill and my dog get out of the house, we are good to go. If I could, I would grab a small wooden chest that has some things I cherish from and about my mom.

If we asked an important person in your life to describe you, what would he or she say? How accurate would it be?

This is the toughest one all day. Whatever Rev. Piazza would say would be, perhaps unfortunately, accurate. He would start by saying, jokingly, "He is not a well woman." I think he would say that I get frustrated too easily about minor things and that I have trouble focusing on work because I really would prefer always to be doing theater. Despite that, he, I think, would say, that I am a passionate person of faith who is committed to the causes that I believe we are called to as Christians. I hope he would say that I am a talented actor.

What’s something that you’ve never done, but have always wanted to try?

Skydiving ... despite being afraid of heights.

What’s the last great gift that you gave someone? And, that you were given?

My brothers and I bought my sister and her new husband a pair of sterling silver candlesticks for their wedding, because my mom always gave candlesticks with a note that said "My father gave me two pieces of advice when I got married: never go to bed angry and have dinner by candlelight, tonight." Since my mom is not here to give them, we did. I got Truman, my puppy, for my birthday last year. He is pretty special.

Thanks Bret!

My apologies to Bret; I actually met him several years ago as well!

Why Truman? Well, he just looks like a "Truman." The day we got him, we brainstormed names, and there were many choices, including Cosmo (after Cosmo Brown in Singin' in the Rain) and Sonic (yes, the fast food joint; we passed one on the way home). The Sunday before, Leslie Jordan worshipped at my church. As we discussed names, Mike asked what character he played on Will & Grace, and I said, "Beverly Leslie, and we are not naming my dog Beverly or Leslie!" That led us to Truman because of Will Truman, but he is not named after Will. Leaning toward Truman, I took a poll at church, and Truman stuck.
