Cookie - thanks! What is your ideal meal? What is your favourite comfort food dish?

My ideal meal - honestly it depends. I'm a bit of a foodie, and the right meal at the right time with the right company can change! Right now, with summer coming, I'd go for an heirloom tomato salad and some grilled fresh salmon. Top it off with a nice vinaigrette. Mmmm. At the same time, around the holidays my mother in law makes a beef brisket to die for. When she makes it, it's the ideal meal indeed. No matter what, my ideal meal always finishes with dessert. I love ice cream.

My favorite comfort food dish is Mac&Cheese. When I do homemade, I put bits of crumbled bacon in, with a sauce made of a combination of cheddar and swiss. It's heavenly! I also appreciate the brilliance of Kraft Deluxe Sharp Cheddar (the one with the oozy envelope of cheese!)

Calvin - muchas gracias! So, what's your favorite way to eat your namesake fruit (besides fresh, of course)?

Fresh is best, of course! I also like to melt a little butter in a sautee pan, add sliced fresh peaches and a little brown sugar and cinnamon. When is gets all browned and yummy, serve it over vanilla ice cream. Mmmm. Peach pie is also a favorite!

1. Favorite cookie - I'm a bit of a purist - homemade chocolate chip gets me happy every time.

2. Hero as a child - Ernie from Sesame Street. He wore red sneakers, and I wore red sneakers. I guess I thought we had formed some sort of bond (plus, who doesn't love red sneakers? I still wear them!) My parents say that while all the other kids liked Big Bird - I was obsessed with Ernie.

3. Favorite book as a child - The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. It's still one of my favorite children's books. As I got a bit older, I liked Shel Silverstein's collected works as well.

4. Way to spend a rainy Saturday - Curled up on the couch in my sweats, with my husband and our two cats, watching movies.

My husband

I used one as a shim in my old convertible. The roof used to rattle when the top was up. I used to put a pencil eraser in between the bars to stop it from shakin'!

What is the weirdest thing you learned in health class
In freshman health class, in the 80s, a girl sat in front of me and she had big, 80s, Aqua-net-super-sprayed hair. She lit a cigarette lighter for some reason and her bangs went POOF into flames. Right there in health class! So, while we were learning about condoms and all that jazz, the weirdest thing I learned is that sprayed bangs smell rancid when they ignite. For the record, the girl did not suffer any injuries, but her hair looked like crap.

Would you rather swim in the ocean with your best guy friend or your best girl friend?
My best guy friend is my husband, so my best guy friend. But I have no qualms about swimming with any of my girl friends either.

If your significant other jumped off a cruise ship- would you jump too?
Probably not.

If your doorbell rang and you opened up to see a zebra, what would be the first thing you do- (except close the door)
I would probably raise my eyebrows in surprise. Then I would invite the zebra in for a cocktail.

If you had to pick, would you rather smell gasoline or flatulence?
Definitely gasoline. While it gives me a bit of a headache, the smell of a ripe fart gives me the dry heaves!

Oh yes indeed!

What brought you to BWW?
I sort of stumbled upon it in 2005 - a year that I was NYC a lot on business, and thus seeing a lot of shows. I started out on the main board, then ventured slowly over here to OT.

What has been your favorite thread?
I rather like this one, because it's fun to learn about people. I'm also a big fan of the TV-show related threads (I watch quite a bit of television). Recently I was having a grand time in the "Food Network Hosts You Love To Hate" thread (I may have gotten the title wrong, but you get the idea), and the "So You think You Can Dance" thread. I loved the Figure Skating thread during the Olympics too. Project Runway was another fave.

And of course, there was the band camp thread...

If you were recuperating in a hospital, who would you want in the bed next to you, excluding relatives?
That's easy - Gene Kelly (in case you haven't noticed, I'm a Gene Kelly fan). My philosophy is that no matter how bad you feel, no matter how much you have the blues, if you watch a Gene Kelly movie, you will feel better. It's what I call instant sunshine. People think I'm nuts, but try it next time you have a bad day. It works wonders. Tip: the "I Got" number in An American in Paris does the trick if you don't have time to watch an entire movie!

What has given you the most pleasure in the last year?
That's a tough one. I would have to say my family. We went through some rough times last year (my father in law passed away very suddenly), and even through the rough times, it was so nice to realize, and appreciate more than ever before, I have a large extended family that really cares about one another. So, with bad times comes some good. I am lucky to have so many wonderful people in my life. That and my two kitties! My cats are a riot. They make me smile every day.

What's something that we would be surprised to learn about you?
Hmmm. I'm not sure how interesting this is, but...my first acting role was as a chocolate bar in a third grade play about teeth (and the dangers of eating candy - it was fun playing one of the bad guys). I guess I got the performing bug early in life!

If your house were on fire, what would you grab on the way out?
The man, the cats, the wedding photos, my wallet and errrm...a pack of cigarettes (I'm bad).

If we asked an important person in your life to describe you, what would he or she say? How accurate would it be?
Probably that I'm a typical Libra who can never make a decision. But also that I'm easygoing, loyal and fun to be around. I grew up with brothers - so I'm completely cool being the butt of a joke!

What’s something that you’ve never done, but have always wanted to try?
Hang-gliding in the Swiss Alps. I saw some guy doing it when I was skiing and it looked pretty amazing.

What’s the last great gift that you gave someone? And, that you were given?
For my brother's 30th birthdy, my other siblings, my parents and I made a scrapbook with funny captions of photos throughout his life. It was an absolute hoot, and he loved it. Last great gift I was given? From my mom - a framed picture of my grandparents on their wedding day. They looked so beautiful!
