I have a question:
What did you think of Patti Lupone's topless scene in Summer of Sam?

Thank you so much Blue Moon and Caitiesus1522. Princeton - thank you for that wonderful pic. That reminds me, I HAVE to replace my vinyl copy of Patti's 'Evita' as I have nothing to play it on and I have serious withdrawal symptoms. (Did I just say VINYL!!! Oops, far too much information).
Boobs - You are one of my most special friends. I look forward to our chats so very much. And please know that you, too, have the ability to bring a smile to my face at any time. MWAHH!! To answer your first question, 'What inspires me?' I think courage inspires me more than anything. People who are scared of something but do it anyway; those who overcome any adversity. I know a lot of people like that personally and I also enjoy reading about them.

So glad you've joined the party, patti!
To re-work addy's questions - if one were to visit the UK on vacation, what is your favorite vacation spot there?

Ah, Cookie - you are an absolute treasure. The most wonderful words. I don't think I need say anymore. Today would not have been the same without a little passeggiata, now would it. Thank you! (Guess what's playing as I write!) My favourite comfort food is, without doubt, chocolate. Any time, any place anywhere - the darker the better. My absolute favourite is Ghiradelli's dark. Of course, they tend not to stock that in the village store here so I have to make do with Cadbury's Bourneville.
Boobs, second question. The person who I would interview, living or dead and what would I ask them. Hmm, it would be Gyllenhaal and I'd ask what he'd like for breakfast. Seriously, I think I'd choose Elizabeth I and ask how she prepared herself mentally to get through her toughest times. I'd also ask what she'd really got going on with that Dudley guy:)
so, pattifan2, the mbcotd mantle rests of your shoulders, eh? well, i hope you hold it up high.
say you're stranded in the desert with your favorite pet and it looks like you're not getting out anytime soon. you've got no food and only a little water. how long would you put off the inevitable: eating your pet to stay alive?

Daydreamer - Thanks for the Adam pics. I actually saw him in that production of 'On Your Toes' and he is so fantastic on stage. Such presence and grace. Of course, put him in the black leather he wore in 'Swan Lake' and you got the picture beat :) <--- Must learn how to post smiley faces!
And a pic of Ace, too, BB. Today is surely the day for being spoiled. And the username...I love Bernadette Peters, but I'm a Patti fan, too.
Bwaysinger - what can I say. I need to get myself shushed today of all days. So I'll just say your pics in now way prepared me for your 'actual' hottness. SIZZLING!! And I love you right back. And for the record, Mr. Voluntarily Bald had to go!
Your question: Patti's next starring role should be without doubt, 'Mommie Dearest - The Musical'. I was going to say 'Sunset' but that aint never gonna happen. And I don't care what anyone else thinks but she should've openened that on Bway. ALW tried to make her the bloody scapegoat. She deserved better. And Addy, I'd give my eye teeth to see her in 'Sweeney' but the chances of that are getting slimmer I think. I've just been stung with a big dental bill so it's eaten into the 'Sweeney' fund. (OMG - that sounded like Helene Hanff who didn't get to London cuz of the dental bill. Yikes.)
Don't give up!
I think it will happen. It seems like it's meant to happen.

Thanks, Grizabella. My favourite comfort read/music. That is so tough. Hmmm, well the cast recording I play every day without fail is 'Piazza' so perhaps that should be the answer. I do love listening to movie music, too. I have a real liking for the scores of Thomas Newman ('Little Women') and Rachel Portman ('Cider House Rules'). I love them in the background while I'm reading. I have this big old club chair next to the lamp table in the lounge which is the perfect place for reading and listening to music. There's a pile of reading I have to catch up with; I'm about to start John Updike's 'Villages'. Although I have a pile of books almost to the ceiling to start on, I can't walk past a bookshop without buying another to add to the pile.

Addy, I really hope you're right. You know how much I mean that.
Cookie, again - you treasure. My ideal meal. Now I can tell you exactly where this would be. I'd have my starter on the porch at The Colonial Inn in Concord, Mass. It would be a beautiful fall afternoon and I'd have a Johnnie Apple to drink to begin with. Starter would be crab cakes, I think. Okay, jump into the Time Machine and transport myself to the Salty Dog in St Aubin in Jersey, Channel Islands for main course of Red Snapper. Jump into the Time Machine again and transport myself to the Pudding Club in the Cotswolds for the steamed pudding buffet. Favourite would be Lord Randall's puddiing with custard.
I like your teletransport ideal meal, pattifan!
My woman wanted to stop by and give you some love too.
That sounds perfect, pattifan!
I might have to join you on that meal adventure.

Thank you, YouWantitWhen. And Princeton - I'm honoured. 'Tap on my window knock on my door..'
Cookie - location for next holiday. Hmm, I think that's likely to be visiting my friend in Spain early summer.
Boobs - One person to the opera. It would be Loretta Castorini to see 'La Boheme'
Daydreamer - oooh, those pics :) If I were an automibile I'd be a soft top Morris Minor. My grandad had one when I was a kid and I remember some brilliant trips to the seaside and picnics in that car.
If I could have anyone over for dinner...I hope this counts. It would be my maternal Grandmother (Nan) who passed when I was sixteen. She told the most wonderful stories and I'd love a whole dinner with her to regail me some more. I'd serve roast beef, Yorkshire pudding and some of Nan's roast potatoes which I know she wouldn't mind bringing along with her.
patti...I loved who you'd want over for dinner...it made me smile.

Thanks, Boobs....Hey, where in hell is Poppy when you want him. I need him to do some very public fawning and he's nowhere to be seen. I seem to remember him accusing me of being late. He hasn't even showed up yet!!!
Princeton. Okay, the Patti thing. First time I saw her in 'Les Mis' I was so excited as I'd only heard her on the 'Evita' recording and she was everything I'd hoped for and more. What she did with that number was just beautiful. Next time I saw her was in...
and it was an amazing performance. Certainly the best sung ND ever. I saw her final performance and that will always rank as perhaps THE single most thrilling theatrical event I've been to. It was simply thrilling and how she got through that performance (set breaking down etc) under the circumstances in which she left was incredible. I've taken every opportunity to see her in concert when she's been over here and I caught 'Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda' in Boston. My favourite concert was 'Matters Of The Heart'. I think she delivers the material with total understanding of the lyric and she's so brilliantly theatrical, too. Apart from seeing her in 'Sweeney' I'd love to see her Momma Rose. I can't wait to read the posts on BWW about Ravinia.
That totally counts! I miss my grandparents too...
I saw Patti's "Matters of the Heart" as well, and loved it. She was amazing. One of my favorite moments was when she sang "Time After Time" dedicated to her son. Very touching, and totally changed the meaning of the song.
I'll take pictures for you, Patti. Too bad you can't do a NYC/Ravinia visit!

I know. That would be the trip of a lifetime for me. Your pics would be very welcome, Addy.
PS Love your new signature :)
I wish you could be in NY so I could share Jacques Brel with you, Patti. It is such a beautiful and inspired production.
This song has been a favorite in my life for many, many years and I've loved hearing it again.
So, add that to the itinerary for your NYC/Ravinia trip... I'll take you to Jacques Brel.
Just for you, my little Pattifan.
SHUSH!

You make it impossible to refuse :) You're good as gold!
Kringas - thanks for stopping by. Any chance of THAT avatar making a come-back anytime soon?
Erikaamato - thanks for the sparkling message.
Papalovesmambo - eating the pet to stay alive. Would there be any chance of covering the pooch with chocolate. Anything covered in chocolate works for me.
