1. Tell us about your absolute favorite Miss America Parade "Shoes"! (I guess you need to explain what I'm talking about for anyone who doesn't know about "the shoes.")
I love this question Miss P! There have been so many. They all look so fab (when you are three sheets to the wind at New York Avenue with the rest of the "girls") by the time they get to either Miss Wyoming or Miss Alabama--depending on the year, of course. I will go with a pair that my friend Blaine made for Miss Pennsylvania, Myra Acosta. He replaced the wedges on some sandals with lucite blocks that were light from within and filled with goldfish. The parade shoes worn by one of "my" Miss PA's Lynette Mertz are on display in the museum at the Sheraton in Atlantic City. They are Hershey Kisses.
Each year my friends who join me in AC and I have our own shoe parade. We select and decorate our shoes (state of our choosing) and then have a contest (with balloting) open to anyone who walks by the room. For the past several years my best friend Tim has taken them home with him to Ohio and entered them in his county fair in a category called "Other"
They have won the blue ribbon every year and were featured in a newspaper article. Fun stuff!
2. This is a hard one: Top 3 Philly restaurants and why.
Actually, this one is fairly easy for me. My number one choice is a small BYOB with consistently fab food -- Bistro la Baia. It feels like home to me. Number two would be Susannah Foo (she's divine and her food even better), and number three would be Alma de Cuba (fun, festive yet elegant with delicious food)
3. How often have you been to the Cartwheel in New Hope?
I'm probably the reason it burned down and closed! LOL
4. Favorite museum in Philly and why.
I know it's for kids, but I love the Please Touch Museum, followed very, very closely by the Barnes. I truly believe the Barnes to be among the top museums in the world.
5. Tell the truth: The first time you saw the sign for the store in New Hope called "Toys for Men," were you disappointed when you walked in and saw what it actually was?
Yes.
6. What is your favorite poem?
This isn't really a poem, but it is poem like ...
Ralph Waldo Emerson is one of my favorite's to read and study and this is his:
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends. to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a little bit better, whether by a healthy child, garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
7. Name your favorite street in Philadelphia.
Broad Street. Our PBS affiliate did a show on the history of Broad Street (which is ten miles long, if I recall correctly) and all of the fabulous buildings ever constructed. Quite fascinating.
8. Did you see Tommy Tune in Bye, Bye Birdie at the Forrest?
I did not. But I did see him in Grand Hotel in NYC. I'm a midget compared to him.
9. Did you ever volunteer at WXPN? (I used to work there!)
No, but my cousin used to be a sales manager there.
10. Did you ever hear of the World Game Institute (which used to be on Race Street behind Drexel) or actually play the World Game?
Yes, yes I have. I actually put a program together for the Philadelphia Chapter of Meeting Professionals International about ten years ago at Thomas Jefferson University/Hospital and we played the World Game. I loved every minute of it!

Also...do you have the power to make Eddie Varley appear?

I have been twitching my nose, blinking my eyes with crossed arms, and Bippity Bopity Booing to exhaustion in the hopes that Mr. Varley might appear. Alas, to no avail. MEN!
1. If you were on Death Row, what would you order as your last
meal?
Ice cream. As I am lactose intolerate and haven't been able to enjoy the divine stuff in over five years, I'd ask for a gallon. I'd go out leaving the bastards with a huge MESS!
2. Favorite ice cream flavor. See above. BUTTER BRICKLE
3. Worst phobia (that you are comfortable sharing, of course)
A house fire. Every time I turn the corner driving up to my house I breathe a sigh of relief to see it still standing. Since I lost my sense of smell four years ago, it's doubley scary to me. Ironically, during the house inspection of the house I bought three years ago it was discovered that the entire second floor of the house had burned off in 1954. Lightening struck it. Shiver!
4. Is there a mirror by your front door?
Not by the front door, but there is a mirror on the back of the coat closet door. Hey, I'm gay, you don't think I'd go out without a top to bottom inspection, do ya?
5. Favorite makeout place in high school.
My 1963 Corvair convertible.

If you could ask a Miss America contestant that one question that the judges would base their final decision on...what would it be?
OMG, I forgot George on my list of ex's. George created my all time favorite pageant question. It's revealing on so many levels. "The Miss America crown is yours if you will pull the wings off of a live butterfly. Would you?"
Now THAT'S a question!
Morning greetings for Mr. BWW!
Would you Addy? (assuming that being Miss America was your dream)
Never!
Oh, I could never imagine such a thing!
That wouldn't be a very fulfilling dream...
Did anybody say they would?
I couldn't do it. I can't believe anyone would say yes to that!

Oh yes, many have! I've crowned two that said they would, after hearing their rationale. Sometimes sheer, brutal honesty is refreshing after seeing a congo line of "pageant patty's" all wanting to save the world through musical theater performance.
Who do you feel should've won the crown this year and why?
Miss Pennsylvania should have won the crown. Nicole is such a sweetheart. She gave up a job at Entertainment Tonight after she was crowned Miss PA ... so we'll see her around regardless. But, since she didn't make the top five, my choice from those was Miss Georgia Monica Pang, the 1st runnerup. Loved her!
Somms, I'm sorry I missed most of your day sweetie. I have loved catching up on your answers though. You have led quite the interesting life. Have a wonderful rest of the day and congrats again!
Morning SOMMS and congrats! There seem to be an awful lot sof your exes down here in South Florida...
LOL - pageant patty's. I love it.

I'd pull the wings off so you could win.
SOMMSY..Miss Georgia was my choice too !!! She wasn't a "typical" pageant patty...I felt you could see her inner beauty too.
What was the WORST talent you have ever seen at a pageant?

SOMMS,
How lovely to read "all about you" last night (sorry, I had to play catch up late night!). Who knew you were funny?
Mucho amor...
This has been so much fun! And here I thought the VH1 Special and the E! True Hollywood Story on the Miss America pagent were informative. They ain't got nothin' on you, dear
SOMMS one more question if you please..
As your reign comes to an end, what would you like your legacy to be?
