SOMMS gets some assistance for his 'Final Walk'.
Oh, there have been sooooooooooo many, but this is my favorite. The Miss America Scholarship Organization gives a $50,000 scholarship to a medical school student called the Allman Scholarship. The only requirement is the application, an essay and participation in one local pageant. I judged a pageant in Massachuessetts where such a candidate competed. She was Harvard Medical. Her talent was playing the violin (Mozart) while singing Let Me Entertain You. I hope I capture this visual -- she wore her hair in pigtails, exagerated makeup, a Dirndahl skirt and peasant blouse cut down to her "hoo hoo". She had a set of jugs the size of Heidi's prize winning heifer. I was the only male judge and about half way through she walked to the front of the stage directly in front of me at the judging table and leaned forward and shook those babies for all they were worth while still playing the violin and singing.
She was obviously mocking the entire pageant system. She didn't place at the pageant. Gasp! But ...... she was the NATIONAL winner of the scholarship. Not only did that girl have a set of bodacious ta ta's (for Papa) but she had a set of brass gonads. She is now a physician in Boston.
I can't believe your reign is almost over SOMMSY.....it really was enjoyable reading all your wonderful and funny answers. Now about that Miss America weekend we keep talking about. BTW....we still have a free tour of QVC too.
Beacon, I adore Julia's "speech". I have every episode of Designing Women on tape and watch them often.
As to legacy Mom, "He's a nice guy" works for me.
DG ... Oh my!
Yes, Boobs we do have that weekend to do. And we still have to watch Dave Venable hosting the Miss Pennsylvania Pageant for which I won a Regional Emmy Award as Producer (SHAMELESS PLUG!)
I can be a HUGE tease, so ...
Truly the hardest part of being MBCoD has to be the selection of the next deserving poster. There are so many wonderful people from which to choose! My first thought was to choose one of my men. If you follow my posts, you know who they are. While they are all wonderful people and all perfect candidates, I don’t like be obvious. The irony that Boobs choose me (an obvious selection) isn’t lost on me. My second list surprisingly (to me) had no men on it at all. There are three women whose written voice and presence here speaks to my deeper, inner self in a powerful way, while at the same time managing to put a grin on my face and causing me to laugh out loud.
Now you wait!

My choice for MBCoD on this first day of March is a woman who I have to meet. Through her words I know that she is genuine, intuitive, feisty, funny, well-informed and nonjudgemental. My choice is …
