Jeeze, why thank you all. I will try to answer as well as I can between hiding from big brother at work today. I was not aniticpating BWW.com homework, but I will do what I can to get my assignments done in time:

1, Favorite cookie - there is a cinnamon sugar cookie I make that I could eat forever. That is one reason I do not make them too often!
2, Hero as a child - my dad
3, Favorite book as a child - either Curious George Rides a Bike or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
4, Way to spend a rainy Saturday - with a fire going, a good DVD in or music on, and plenty of cat toys. Now, if I was dating someone, the answer might be a bit different.

Spider:

1. If you could go back in time and date any star from the "classic" era of movies or music, who would it be? Hmmm. Maybe Henry Fonda. Or, Danny Kaye, or Danny Thomas. None of them are classic leading men, but seem like they would be really interesting to have dinner with. Maybe Rock, to let him know what was coming and throw a few condoms his way. I have never really thought about that one.

2. If you had a chance to star or direct a broadway show, which would you choose? Direct. So long as I had good team working on the and in the show. I cannot sing with squat.

3. What is your dream job? Working in Beijing or Shanghai in a company that helps develops writers and artists whose works are not subject to government review or approval.

---------
Boobs: My 1st question....If you could interview 1 person (dead or alive)who would it be and what questions would you want answered? George Bush (and he would not be allowed any handlers around him) Please explain to me the rationale for war in Iraq and what the factional and historical basis for supporting that rationale.

2nd.....What inspires you? Great humanity and great suffering. I cried not only at the pain and suffering caused by natural disasters, but also cry with joy at some of the heroic efforts made on an individual effort to save the life of another. The ability of those who were otherwise divided or full of hate to come together in times of crisis, and the hope that someone can capture that for more than a moment in time. The recognition that for all the differences that are claimed to exists, we have far more in common with our neighbor and even our "enemy" than many would dare to admit. And, I have to admit, the Great Wall of China was pretty awe-inspiring.

-------
Brd -
I have no idea what a penumbra is in real ife. A numbered pen with its on bra? Otherwise, it appears to be an area in which something exists to a lesser or uncertain degree: "The First Amendment has a penumbra where privacy is protected from governmental intrusion" (Joseph A. Califano, Jr.).

Which, I would presume, is why Roe can be overturned, because it is based on a lesser, assumed right, rather than an right expressed calearly in the Constitution.

OK, Off to work. I will try to answer more later.

Yay! YWIW??? We've been chatting more lately, and I really enjoy your posts. Congrats.

My two questions:

If you were a pair of shoes, what shoes would you be and why?

If you could have anyone over for dinner, who would it be and what would you serve them?

Jane, the picture was quite pretty, and my cats especially appreciated it.

Stoli has already tried to eat the flowers a couple of times. Between running around in circles in the bathtub, eating my earplugs, and now trying to eat the very pretty flowers, he is quite amusing.

I will try to answer a few more questions later. Uh oh - here comes big brother. Back to work!

Threadjack away Mamie!

OK - and to answer the easiest question - the cutest thing my cats have ever done:

<------------- When the two of them are bound up in a yin/yang ball grooming each other. That, or when they chase each other around the house like cartoon characters. I am really lucky that they get along so well.

And Peach, my two cats send back the kitty love.

And now the harder ones:

1. Favorite sandwich filling? - when I was a small kid - I loved to put potato chips in my peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It gave it a great cruch. Now, as an adult - I think really crispy and cold lettuce in a heated sandwich with melted cheese cannot be beat.

2. What will be your epitaph? Believe it or not, I have never really thought about it. Perhaps "It is OK to agree to disagree. Being right is not always the right anwer."

3. Favorite name for a boy? For a girl? For a boy, I really like the name Alexander, after my dad. For a girl, probably Alexandria or Alexis for the same reason.

4. If you could invite three historical figures from previous
centuries to dinner, who would you ask--and what would
you serve? Jesus, Abraham and Mohammed. I would get the story straight from the sources and find how they really believe about all of the shenanigans going on today in the name of "G-d". To be safe, I probably would serve flat bread, hummus and tahini. I would have plenty of wine available for Jesus and Abraham, though I am not sure Mohammed would be interested.

5. Favorite makeout place when you were a teenager? The hills right above La Cienega and Rodeo in West LA. Great view of the basin of the city.

6. If you were to join Brdlwyr and Tiff on my legal team
for my anticipated Stalker Trial (Re: Mister Wilson)
who would you want to portray you in the movie version? So long as Chris Columbus was not involved in any way, I probably would be OK.

7. Favorite vacation spot as a child? As an adult? The beach at Santa Barbara as a child with my family. As an adult, going to SF to visit friends, and going to mainland China for two weeks. I do not really "vacation enough" as an adult because I have travel so much for work, I prefer to stay home and relax when I can.

8. What did you have for breakfast this morning? Two pieces of wheat toast with some whole fruit jam.

9. LSAT--useful admission tool...or tool of Satan? Useful tool, but as with any standarized test, prone to bias. Should not be the only measure of law school admissions.

10. What brought you to the Off Topic board at BWW? I was curious after a few days on the Main Board on what the OT board actually was, so I came on over. Now, I barely visit the Main Board.

Yes, there is a main board Boobs - but it ranks barely in front of the Student board in topics of interest to me.

Did you know that there is a new Elphaba on tour? She is sooo pretty. Julia is the bestest ever.

To answer your question, I would have to probably pass on that one, since I have not seen enough shows in NY to really have a favorite star. Most of them I see are when they come through LA. I have, in my life, only seen about 10 shows live in NY. (I know, I should lose my posting rights immediately).

If I had to be pinned down, I would have to go with a collective and point to the cast of Drowsy Chaperone, because the show was so much fun. I don't have the same knowledge and experience on all of the shows as others on this board, but perhaps if I had to point to a person, I would say that Alan Cummings in Cabaret, because he took a role that was so defined by someone else, and truly made it unique and his own. Bebe Neuwirth in Chicago for the same reason. And, then there is of course Julie Andrews, who I would have love to see do just about anything.

And DG - thanks for Delores - it makes me smile every time I think of Bette in an electric wheelchair.

Do you think people who live in California speak with an accent? (I'm from Virginia and people here do.)

Have you ever taken one of those bus tours to the movie stars homes? (You know - like Lucy and Ethel?) If you did, did you steal one of Richard Widmark's grapefruit? Was the repercussions of that theft what made you enter the law profession?

What brought you to BWW and what made you stay?

DG - one of my favorite restaurants is called "Joe's" on Abbot Kinney. I would have brunch there, and then go down to Venice beach and walk up and down the beachfront, buying as much crap and incense as we could possibly hold. Maybe we would actually get our portraits down by someone there who does the quick sketches. We would play skeeball and perhaps take a ride or two. I grew up riding the Carousel there that has now been refurbished. We would then go have a drink at the bar on the end of Pier and just watch the water and waves for a bit. If we were really sinful, we would end the evening at the Border Grill, with a nice duet of Margis on the rocks and Chilean Seabass.

Or, I would take them to a production at the Will Geer Theater, just because no one believes places like that actually exist in LA.

I would also give them a view from my office. Because, from where I am, I can see the Hollywood sign and on a clear day, and whispes of the ocean. Right now, it actually looks beautiful with the clouds coming in over the mountains.

We would have pancakes at Dinahs the next morning, with some really fresh coffee.

We would go to the old Getty just because it is so beautiful to visit there, and the new Getty to admire the gardens.

We would see a Dodger game with my company seats that includes preferred parking and free food.

We would go to the Hollywold Bowl and bring a picnic dinner full of wines and cheeses from Trader Joes.

Now you got me started . . .

- - -

Papa, I have heard of a band called the Donna's, but never a Band of Donnas. I have met plenty of primadonnas if that counts.

And Addy,

What is my favorite movie this past year? I refuse to answer, because if I do, this board may self-destruct.

My favorite class in college? Chinese literature as a Freshman. It introduced me to a whole new world and sparked my interest in China. I ended up getting a degree in International Relations, taking two years of Mandarin Chinese, and developing a huge interest in the Mainland.

If you could go back to any year in your life what year would it be and why? I think 1998. That was the year before my dad had heart surgery, and his health started to deteriorate. He died in 2004, but he really stopped being himself in 1998. I would have spent more time with him then.

Wow - you guys are really making me think. My software contracts are much easier than this. Y - I will get to yours later. But, I think I already answered that question a few months ago . . .

OK - back to work. Big brother may soon wonder why my office door is closed.

OK Mamie - I am going to give your questions a shot now. (Man, I am going to have work to take home this weekend! This is far more thought-provoking for me than what is on my desk!)

Have you always lived in LA? If not, what brought you there and what made you stay? I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I went to college and law school in the Sacramento area (which is in NoCal) and came back home after law school because I had no money! I have spent a summer working in Taiwan, and have lived, via extended work related projects, in both Little Rock, Arkansas (hated it) and Boston, Mass. (loved it). I have stayed in LA in the past few years because I have a job as an attorney that lets me sleep at night knowing I am not getting paid to screw someone else over. Which, is a luxury many of my law-school friends do not have, and, because both of my parents had some health issues. But now, with my mom healthy (and my father gone) I would, for the right opportunity, consider moving to another town.

Do you think people who live in California speak with an accent? (I'm from Virginia and people here do.) I think there are some twangs of sort here, but unless you live at the beach and adopt a beach twang, or live among teenagers in the SF Valley, that I have never seen a California accent.

Have you ever taken one of those bus tours to the movie stars homes? (You know - like Lucy and Ethel?) If you did, did you steal one of Richard Widmark's grapefruit? Was the repercussions of that theft what made you enter the law profession? I have actually never done a bus tour of stars houses. I have seen some in passing during the normal day, but I am not so enthralled with them that I need to waste my time looking at their security gates. The last thing I stole was a pack of gum at a 7-11 type store, and that was when I was a teenager, so I don't think that it was the motivation for me becoming a lawyer. I actually became a lawyer because I had a very naive notion that lawyers make things fair. And, if you are a good lawyer, sometimes you can in fact do so. But, with all of the money in the system, it is very difficult sometimes to do so.

What brought you to BWW and what made you stay? I was bored one night and after trying to get tickets to see Wicked at the Pantages, and trying to figure out why they were so hard to get, I came across this site. So, I guess you can blame Wicked for me coming on here. For the record, I really did enjoy the show. Not the most amazing thing ever, but good fun (*ducks and runs behind her two cats for protection*)

Stretching your memory back as far as possible - even to the edges of what might possibly be imagination - what do you think is the earliest memory you have? I remember being about two or three years old and riding on my tricycle with mail in my mouth to deliver it the mailbox. I also remember pieces of the amazing stories our babysitters would tell us when were children. One involved a car and a swimming pool.

What is the happiest, most secure memory you have? There was a Passover dinner about 7 years ago where my entire family was there, there were no fights: we were all getting along for once, and I was with my boyfriend, who I was falling in love with, and I was very, very happy.

We are each the architect of our own heaven. What's yours going to be like? I honestly do not know. I am not sure I believe in heaven and hell, so I have not really thought about what it will be like.

What has given you the most (non-sexual and non-criminal) pleasure in the last year?

If we asked an important person in your life to describe you, what would he or she say? How accurate would it be?

OK Tiff, just about caught up!

Cookie - my favorite flower - I really don't have one. Roses are always pretty and smell wonderful, but wildflowers are also so very, very pretty, as are orchids. I am not a huge flower person because my one cat is such a brat, that he finds a way to knock over almost every vase I can put them in. He then starts eating the flowers and/plants.

Shameless -

What has given me the most pleasure?

It is not much of an answer, but my cats. They really are wonderful companions. I have gone through some tough times these past couple of years, and the unconditional love they both show is something that makes me very happy that I have them. When the Siamese squeaks with happiness, I always smile.

How would someone important describe me? I think he or she would say that I am honest and they would trust me with just about anything, and that I remind them of my father. My sisters have told me they are glad that I am the executor and power of attorney/trustee for the family because they know I would rather take less for myself then feel like I was cheating someone out of anything. I think to an extent this is true, but some of it is trying live up to others expectations of me rather than necessarily all of my own doing. Sometimes, going to join the circus does sound very inticing!
