Late to the party, but congrats PalJoey -- enjoy your day!
I'm still marvelling at the Bernstein and Robbins stories...
So, this is a belated and long-distance cheer for PalJoey! I do have one small question, though. Have you ever been bewitched, bothered and bewildered at the same time?

Oh Joey, you don't know how happy I am to know you wear boxer briefs! I'll sleep well tonight!
Once again, congratulations.

Congrats PJ! A real Celebratory in our midst! I'm soo impressed w the company I get to keep!(well, visit any way) Always glad to hear anothe Liberal POV! Keep on trucking man! (was that a t?)
"Have you ever been bewitched, bothered and bewildered at the same time?"
Yes, the first time I met PalJoey'sPal 12 years ago this April--and one, two or three of them every day since.
"If you could sing/perform like anyone, but have to live their life also - who would it be?"
Hmm...I'll have to think about that over dinner. The first names that pops into my head is Audra McDonald--because I think she's extraordinarily talented and seems to have a balanced life. But I'm not sure I'd like to sing like her...
Congrats, to an amazing person. I hope you cherish your day as a celebrity and have as much fun as possible . . . and don't let the flu ruin it for you.
This is lunacy. Scrapping the bottom of the poster barrell with this choice. All you all on dope?
PJ, hope you're enjoying your day and feeling better!

Congratulations, PalJoey. I, too, always anjoy your posts. You are an original.
Sorry I couldn't comment earlier but I had to WORK!
Feel better soon.
PJ, Did you ever see Liza's show, "The Act"?
Yes, Dottie. I had a friend who was one her Liza's "boys" in The Act. Why do you ask?
And Eadie, dear, "barrel" has only one l. You must resolve to spell better, or I will tell everyone they're right--you ARE Matt_G!
Sabre and Chita and StageDoor--thank you, thank you, thank you.
And Miss Pennywise, we must ALL work. What is it that Masha says in the Three Sisters? (Or is it Olga? or Irina? I always get those girls mixed up--like Patti, Laverne and Maxine.)
I asked about "The Act" because I was just flipping channels and saw the rebroadcast of Liza on The Actor's Studio and for some reason I was reminded of that show.
I was either in junior high or high school at the time and vaguely remember her attendance problems with that particular show. What can you share about the show itself?
Thanks.
Yes, PJ, you are right. We must all work. Look at you. You're home with the flu and what did you do all day? Answer your fan mail! Ah, there is no rest for the revered. (Which sister said that--Maggie, Terri or Suzzy?)
Well, it was Liza at her edgiest. The show was pretty dumb. It was a show about an act but it was really just an act.
Mostly I remember the rumors: New York New York had just failed, spectacularly. She had busted up the marriage of Martin Scorcese to Julia Cameron (later author of "The Artist's Way"), there were rumors about cocaine, about oxygen in the wings between number--but the most scandalous rumor was that she lipsynched during several heavy dance sequences, which was considered sacrilege.
It didn't matter. She hadn't yet become pathetic in any way. She was still electrifying.
"Whose life story would you like to see made into a movie, that has not been done already?"
Ethel Merman! I would love to write it, have Craig Zadan and Neil Meron produce it and have Lorna Luft star as Ethel Merman.
(DAME--do NOT comment or I will steal you stash and report you to the DEA!)
Undi--dead or alive? (The talk-show guests.)
Thanks, PJ. I am fascinated by your posts and your sense of optimism. I look forward to your book one of these days!
Miss Holly is depressed.
No one asked about her all day long...except bwaysinger.
Miss Holly says, "I love you, bwaysinger. The rest of the people on that board are just bitches."
Miss Holly is the cutest dog I have ever seen. Happy Year of the Miss Holly! (Sorry to take some of the attention away from you, PJ.)
Miss Holly is an attention whore. She needs attention the way other dogs need food and water. She is bitchy and selfish and self-involved and short-tempered.
And that is why PalJoey and PalJoey'sPal love her so much.
AHEM
the cows bring in colorful box for pj, and bigger one for miss holly
I never get tired of that avatar. The bitch behind it, however...
That is the sweetest pup I've seen in a long time.
