I considered many of the newer posters, many of whom are brilliant, charming, sensitive, and most critically -- nice to me on a recurring basis. (I can be had for the price of a cocktail, or a sweet word.)
But I finally had to go with a true board legend -- you know, Lillian Hellman in the mink coat ad. I am passing the torch for a weekend, and this legend deserves breathing room to reap the rewards of this title.
Sueleen was an early influence, teaching me life and posting lessons I didn't always apply with care and consistency (brevity, class, taste, brevity). But there's no finer, truer voice here, a telling blend of wit and wisdom, generosity of spirit, confidence, and despite some occasional cynical ruminations, an inherent optimism.
There are too few true role models here, but Sueleen remains the gold standard. Let me be the first to cheer. May the praise-singing commence ... now.
Ooh! Sueleen for the weekend! Excellent!

Congrats, Sueleen! And you get a whole weekend to celebrate with us. Great choice - one that I would made myself.
Excellent!
Sueleen, congratulations on being the Celebrity of the Weekend. (Sorry about the CoW thing. )
Enjoy your day, and I'll put the good stuff on ice!
Well, one thing's for sure. This thread will never be the same.
Congrats Sueleen!
yay Sueleen!

Kudos, Auggie. EXCELLENT choice.
And, again, it is always wonderful to read your posts. Thanks for your contributions to BWW. :o)

MOST excellent - I'm hoping for some serious photo-shopping!
I have a question! I would like to ask Sueleen where her user name comes from.
And all this time I thought Sueleen was campaigning for me!
Ha!
Congrats!
While I don't want to steal any thunder, I do believe it's a character in Altman's Nashville.
Let's throw Sueleen some HARD questions, like she threw at Namo.
Sueleen--what OTHER names have you posted under here at BWW?

Yay Sueleen. Even though you think I ignored your questions on my special day, I'm going to pay close attention on your special weekend!
To paraphrase Candy Slice, the late Gilda Radner's Patti Smith parody character singing her ode to Mick Jagger, "Gimme Mick":
"Are you woman? Are you man?
I'm your biggest f***ed up fan,
Gimme Sueleen!"
Ladies and gentlemen, fasten your seatbelts.
And as a huge (no, I am not starting another fat-fat-fatty thread...) Sueleen fan, I couldn't be happier with the choice. I am sure that she will carry the torch with class, style, and wit. Or at least some combination of the three...
I can't believe it took THIS long for Sueleen to be the BWW Poster Child! YAY, indeed!!!!
I believe Sueleen was the first person I ever exchanged PMs with. A truly wonderful choice, Auggie. Sue may be the MOST original poster here. And whenever I get blue, I just think of Betty Hutton and life doesn't seem so bad.
A SueleenGay Weekend Lovefest. Holy Parallel Universe, Batman.
Happy Day!
This is my first post on the celeb threads--I think--but I had to give props to Sueleen Gay, one of my faves! She's savage, brutally honest and very funny. No wonder I like her...
My first question is, naturally, what's with your Betty Hutton obsession?
Exactly. Sueleen's icon collection is a cheery work of art...well, except for that really dark phase when she dipped into the well at that site with mutant photos... But we won't go *there* on her special day.

Betty Hutton, Shirley Booth...who were the others?
And who was the one with her hands at her ears, like a Hollywood version of Edvard Munch's "The Scream"?
I think this celebration deserves a special dinner out.
Anybody have a good restaurant suggestion?
How about a fine wine?
My WORSHIP at the altar of Miss Sueleen is well known. Happy Celebrity Day, you little country flower, you.
wow. Is it appropriate to say how excited AND scared I am over this?
luvtheemcee ... since La Gay is still backstage, getting into her fright wig, and vocalizing (no doubt using some version of my name to practice a nasty Dietrich growl) I will alert you to NASHVILLE, the film from which the screen name comes.
But what's remarkable: The Board's Sueleen has now eclipsed Altman's. I take nothing from the indelible impression made by Gwen Wells, but I dare say, the name has been boldly reinvented here.
