It depends on the time of year, but it would definitely involve a lot of seafood, especially sushi and shrimp. The most important thing would be the company- pizza with my friends is a whole lot nicer than caviar with strangers.
I don't know why I thought of this, but it tends to be a fun question. What's your favorite word?
Broadway Legend Joined: 3/4/04
Oooh, that's a hard one. I have a tough time picking a favorite anything.
I think a word I really like is "creative", in its most literal sense. True creativity- the ability to be original and make something new- is something I lack, but I really admire it.

I have a hard time picking favorites, too, which is why I felt slightly bad asking that.
Hooray Plum! You would've been my top pick as well - nice taste, Em!
Questionnaire
1. What started your Hugh infatuation and what do you like most about him?
2. What is the word or phrase you over-use the most?
3. What is the most important characteristic you look for in a male and/or female (significant other or friend)? What do you loathe in a male and/or female?
4. What makes you so gosh darn smart??
5. What has been your favorite vacation, and what is your dream destination?
6. Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?
7. Biggest misconception about yourself?
8. Question you've always wanted someone to ask but never have been?
(Can you tell I've been waiting and hoping your day would come soon? )
Happy day, Plumsie! Happy day!

1. I loved his acting but didn't think he was particularly attractive in X-Men. (I know, blasphemy. That hair was just atrocious, though.) Anyway, I really started to like him once I saw a not-entirely-legal copy of the London Oklahoma! and a few talk show appearances. The guy has range, and I thought that was cool.
2. On here, at least, I think I use too many similies and action-in-asterisk phrases. I think that's because words by themselves can be easy to misinterpret and I'm pretty phobic about accidentally offending people.
3. I look for someone I can talk to, first of all. With some people conversation is an effort, and with others I could just yak for hours- it's not necessarily a prerequisite, but it makes friendship easier. What I really demand is honesty. I had too many experiences in my younger years of "friends" stabbing me in the back or turning out to be something less than friends after all. Anyway, I guess that makes it tough for me to make friends at all, but nowadays the people I'm friends with are people I trust.
4. Um...I read too much? Really, I compensate for any intelligence by being an out-of-shape klutz with nothing resembling self-confidence, direction, or assertiveness.
To be continued...

Plum, do you wish that the Cubs win the World Series next year?
congrats plum!!
*^_^*

Brdlwyr, I always wish for the Yankees. :) But in a situation when it was the Cubs against any other AL team, I'd probably cheer for the Cubs. Probably because I dislike the other prominent AL teams.
Okay, back to Tiff.
5. I like visiting places with Mediterranean climates because they feel like home- so I loved California, Italy, the south of France and Monaco. (Israel doesn't count because it's a family visit.) Anyway, I guess my dream destination would be Italy again, but different parts of it this time.
6. I really haven't got a clue. I hope I succeed in something, but I'll probably end up in some mediocre position. I hope, at least, I'm in New York or close to it, and living without parental support.
7. Until the gender thread, most people here evidently thought I was male. That's pretty big, isn't it?
8. Um...*ponders* I'm really not sure. I just like to take questions as they come.

Here's a serious one for you, Plum, especially in light of today's news:
What would have to transpire in order for there to be a lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians?
YAY PLUM!
Broadway Legend Joined: 3/4/04
Okay, well...first of all, I think it's got to be understood that the Palestinians and the Israelis have both lost their wars. The Palestinians and all their descendants aren't going to be allowed back into Israel, because that country wants to preserve a Jewish majority. And the Israelis aren't going to be allowed to settle willy-nilly into whatever they deem to be Israel's borders.
Not that either side has to admit this. But it needs to be understood.
The Palestinians have to have elections in which the political parties don't double as terrorist groups, or they'll never be seen as legitimate. So Hamas needs to disarm. Not call a cease-fire, but to really put down their weapons.
Israel needs to get the frick out of the rest of the settlements.
Jerusalem is hard. Muslims need to be allowed in there freely to worship, as do Christians, but it's Israel's capital. I'm really not sure what to do with it. Making it into a non-state area like...Antarctica or something...just seems too bizarre to work, but maybe it's the only way. Can it belong to no nation but still be the capital of both Israel and Palestine? How would that even work?
Anyway, some kind of understanding needs to happen between the Palestinians and the Israelis in order for any kind of detente to occur. I think it's sad but promising that the founding generation of this conflict in its present form is dying off. Sharon won't be coming back to politics, and Arafat is (finally) gone. That leaves some room for chaos as people figure out the new shape of things, but only with that kind of flexibility can the situation actually change.
I'm going to choose to believe that Hamas' electoral success will lead it to become a party of democratic politics rather than politics-by-explosion. That's a good start.
I'm very happy with this choice. Plum is supremely intelligent and always posts wonderful remarks.
Okay, my questions:
What is your favorite musical/play and why? Book? Movie?
Do you have any vices?
Congrats, Plum! We haven't ever talked, really, but I've always admired your extremely logical, respectful approach to debates, and I love hearing your viewpoint. Enjoy today!

My favorite musical is Sunday in the Park With George. Ever since I finally got to see it live I've been trying to figure out why, and I guess it's because it's one of the few shows in the Sondheim canon where you can hear Sondheim talking clearly, but not bitterly, as is the case in almost everything from Company to Merrily, excepting maybe A Little Night Music. He isn't capable of writing a purely happy musical, but I think he showed a change of heart in Sunday and Passion, which I find fascinating.
Also, "Sunday" is one of the most magnificent musical numbers ever staged, period. It makes people get choked up over a painting, for crying out loud. It's a moment of pure and perfect theater.
Favorite book...that's hard. I can say that my tastes run to historical fiction and fantasy. I read the Little House books about 52 times each as a kid, as well as every Poirot mystery in existence. I also have a huge soft spot for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and for the His Dark Materials trilogy. I also love the works of Chaim Potok and One Hundred Years of Soltitude.
My favorite movie is L.A. Confidential. I like noir style in general, even if true original noir sometimes gets too over-the-top and sexist for me. But here, the acting is fan-frickin'-tastic, and the plot is perfectly constructed. I adore this film.
Vices? I procrastinate a lot. Oh, and I'm a coward.
I hope people didn't lose interest in Plum. I've been doing some catch up reading. You're an interesting gal, Plum!! I might have missed someone asking this, but if you could have a career in theatre, in what role would it be (actor, director, proucer...)?
Broadway Legend Joined: 3/4/04
Eek. I couldn't reply for a few seconds there.
Bwaysinger, I'm completely unsurprised to be the least interesting Celebrity so far. I didn't think I'd ever get picked at all.
If I were involved in theater in any way it would be backstage- in design or tech, especially. I'm way too shy and have no leader-like qualities, so something like performing or directing is out of the question. Also, that aforementioned lack of creativity would probably interfere. :P

What was the first show/play that you saw and how old were you at the time?
Broadway Legend Joined: 3/4/04
My first Broadway show was Cats, when I was 8 or 9. And I'll have you know I loved it. :) That show made it my highest ambition to play in a pit orchestra, which is part of why I so eagerly took up viola a little later.
I may or may not have seen an outdoor performance of The Marriage of Figaro before that. I remember being really sleepy (it was a nighttime performance) and dozing off by my dad. He took me because I loved our video of The Magic Flute and a small child at an outdoor performance is less prone to disaster than one in a nice theater.
no child should be forced to endure Figaro.......while one of my favorite operas, it's too long and too involved, in my opinion for a kid........
Mazel Tov, Plum!
PLum, I doubt that! I find you very interesting. And thanks for the responses!
Yay - Plum!

Go PLUM!
Your name sticks out. I don't know why. Maybe it's because it begins with a P like mine...and there aren't any numbers...and it doesn't have the word WICKED in it.
Stoli and Zorra are doing a happy dance for your celebrity status!
