ah? No way you're getting out of getting sloshed with us, missy.
*back to answering questions*
You're holding back my hair?
Oy!
DD, glad it was a good skiing day. I still need to get out there and go with you sometime!
Now it's 3:30, I'm really off to bed or I won't make it to work or KNOB.
Damn right she'll be getting sloshed too
congrats again DD.. And Happy Birthday
Cammy! Thanks. We'll make sure of that, right? Though you can hold her hair... I think I'd just follow suit if you make me do it.
Have a good night liotte...
Part I (don't want to post it all in one LOOOONG post)
First of all, even though I've already said it, thanks Tiffy for the honour. I am little self conscious about the attention, but hey, who doesn't like a little attention sometimes.
Thanks to everyone for your kind and nice thoughts. It's really special... I'm not really good with words at times like these... just know that I am thankful from the bottom of my heart for all of you, those whom I have met and those whom I have yet to meet. Thankful for those of you who've become my friends, thankful for those of you who 'play' with me (and my sharksuit), and thankful for those of you who make me think and challenge my mind. I have truly grown in the past year, and a lot of it I owe to bww.
Now that I'm all choked up, I'll try to answer some of your questions and posts...

Congratulations, though I'm sure he's still sound asleep.
Not too far off... I was up by 6:00 am PST to attack the slopes... funny how I manage to get up early to get to the slopes but can't seem to manage to be to work on time.
And chocolate martinis delivered by Greg...
*swoon*
cookie, Do they make a Vosges chocolate martini yet?
DG, love the flat DG!!!
Since you all asked, some of my family history:
Both of my parents are Costa Rican. They moved to the US in the late 50's with two daughters. My brother and I were both born in the US. In the early 70's, they decided to move back to Costa Rica, for reasons my parents can't agree on. My mom claims my dad wanted to move, my dad claims it was my mom's idea and whining. I tend to believe my dad, but don't quote me on that. I grew up in Costa Rica until 1988, when I moved back to the US. I lived in Washington DC for 8 years, with a 1 year break while I lived in Miami while going to college. Have been in Seattle since 1996.
My maternal grandfather was a congressman back home (three times) and is the man I most admire. I wish I could be half the man he was. He always thought of others first... a true gentleman, even when he erred he tried to make right by his mistakes. I remember having breakfast at his country house, with all his kids, grandkids and great grandkids, and the president of the country sitting at the other end of the table. Not presumptious at all.
On my father's side, my grandfather's sister was married to Sandino. The story goes that when Sandino was in hiding, he and his wife were hidden in my grandfather's house.
Also on my dad's side, a former vice-president of the country was a distant uncle. All people in my extended family can be traced to two brothers who moved to Central America in the early 1600's... and it's hard to hide when you look very much like a distant uncle.
Exhibit A why I left Costa Rica: everyone knows who you are.
Tiff... the island of Costa Rica is fond of you too.
Daydreamer, what's the thing you love most about Costa Rica?
The people, our culture. We are truly a village... (see Exhibit A above), and even though it can be claustrophobic, it's also amazing.
And throwing back at you, if you were a pair of shoes, what brand and type would you be?
Definitely a pair of Super Vogs. Can be worn dressy and semi-formal, but still have that informal appeal to them, that "I'm not a mold" attitude.
>What was the best meal you've ever eaten?
G-rated? That's no fun!
Hm... it has to be a salmon dinner I had when I first moved to Seattle at the Salish Lodge. It was one of those meals when every bite was an attack on your taste buds.
Your favorite travel destination?
Hm... depends on my mood. I love to experience new places. Of the places I've visited to far, probably Greece. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
If you could have one special power, what would it be.
I would like to be able to become invisible at will.
If you had to describe Tiff with just one word...what would it be?
Saucy.
Part II
If you were to take someone on a tour of CR - what would you make sure to include?
Oh, easy.
Start with a tour of San José, the ugliest city in the world. We'd start at the Jade museum to see the pre-columbian art. The off to the gold museum. Of course we'd have to stop at the National Theater after the gold museum. After lunch in a 'soda' for some 'real' costarican food, we'd head over to the Central Market, where you'd see what locals shop... fresh fruit, fresh meat, and fresh flowers. And lots of leather products. Cheap. Very cheap.
Then off to the Atlantic coast... scuba diving the coral reefs of Cahuita, spending some time in Puerto Viejo. After a couple of days, we'd head to Arenal Volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in the world, erupting regularly since 1968. Then to the hotsprings at the base of the volcano.
From there we'd head to the North Pacific coast, to Playa Grande (this being late Jan/early Feb) to see turtles coming to lay their eggs (there's a word for it I can't think of right now...). After a couple of days there, we'd head to Monteverde, a nature preserve started by Quakers. Hopefully see the most beautiful bird in the world... the Quetzal. Legend says that if you see a Quetzal, you'll have good luck the rest of your life.
Finally, we'd finish with a weekend of decandence in Manuel Antonio, which is considered by many one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
If you could choose DD, would you want a crown, a coronet, or a tiara?
I think I'm more of a crown guy. Just sayin'
DG/Addy: totally into the book and movie rights. Anything for a get rich scheme, eh? (I've been in/near Canada too long... I'm already saying aboot)
Ok... again, thanks a million to everyone that posted. I will try to be up by the ungodly hour of 7 am (it's not a ski day) to post my successor.
Hi DD! As you can see, you west coast kids aren't the only ones up at this ungodly hour.
I'm glad to see you got home safely and that you had a great day. (We missed you here.) May this new day and all the days to come be equally wonderful!

I figured you'd show up eventually - happy day to you on every level
Eventually... didn't leave Whistler until 5:00 pm.
You're up late, Mamie... or is it early? Can't tell...

A little something for you to think of as you head into your night dreams.
It's late. I'm in one of my insomnia modes.....
I will be dreaming of swans, DG.
I hear ya, Mamie. It happens to me more often than I care to admit.
Alas, it's time for me to hit the sack... a day of skiing, 4.5 hour drive and quite a bit of alcohol will do that to you. And I have to be up in a few to name the new MBCotD.
One more confetti toss for DD!!! Glad to hear that it was a grand b-day for you. Oh and ummmm by the way I did NOT steal your white chocolate martini!! (I only called dibs on yours if you didn't show up!)
Sorry, I am late on this but
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND CONGRATS
One last congratulations to DD!
Hope you enjoyed your day!
Glad to see DD had a great skiing weekend and birthday, and that he finally got to join in his COTD party!

Glad to see you FINALLY showed up. ;-}
Sounds like you had a dream of a birthday.
Thanks for all the wonderful answers, DD
Glad the trip and the birthday were both wonderful! And, isn't it nice to know you were being toasted to even when you weren't here.
Bravo and Congrats!
And, now, we eagerly await your decision...
Any sign of our Celebrity?
Tardy, but sincere: Congratulations!
*gulp* What do we do, guys?
He's online, I have a feeling he is about to give us his decision.
YAY!
*rolls out of bed*
Damn! It is still dark outside.
Thanks again for a wonderful day.
I actually spent a great deal of time deciding on the next CotD.
He's the first bwwer I met, and we got along famously from the very first moment.
I hereby pronounce DottieD'Luscia MBCotD.
And now, ladies and gents, I go back to bed.
