re: Michael Jackson's Going To Jail

Does anyone else think that Michael should have a legal guardian appointed from him to make certain that he can at least wake up and get to court on time?

re: Michael Jackson's Going To Jail

I take no delight in this. It's too bad he's gone so far around the bend directly into Norma Desmond Land because the case against him is unraveling. Tom Sneddon is SO Inspector Javert at this point the mistakes he's making are practically predictable.

He effortlessly turned and waved to fans and then when he got closer to the court, he slowed down. I don't want him to go to prison. I don't think he lives in the same reality as everyone else.

re: Michael Jackson's Going To Jail

well, let's be honest here. Any prison in which they incarcerate Jackson, if it's your normal type of prison, is going to be as good as a death sentence for him.

re: Michael Jackson's Going To Jail

Ehhh I don't want him to get off but I wouldn't want him to go to prison - don't think he will last very long
When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing. - Moliere

Justice System

So, this is how it works as I have noticed in the past with these celebrity trials:

If you're black and you have lots of money (O.J., Kobe), you are found innocent.

But, if you're white and have money (Martha, Michael), you go to jail.

Nice Justice system.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

He won't go to prison. If he's convicted, they'll get him assigned to a mental institute.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Martha went to jail because she was too cheap to hire a good lawyer. A good lawyer would have gotten her off with a fine and a slap on the wrist.

So, I guess mArtha should have hired Johnny Cochran

No, Martha went to jail because she is a woman. Ken Lay, who bilked thousands, walks among us.

Jackson is a pedophile.

But it is clear to me that he was set-up by blackmailers.
"Christ, Bette Davis?!?!"

Master, it doesn't matter if he was set up. Pedophilia is a horrible crime. He belongs in jail, not a mental institution. Pedophiles cannot be rehabilitated. But I also think he'll commit suicide if he's sentenced to jail.

Justice System

You don't really actually know what you are talking about wink. What is your definition of "rehabilitated?" How can you speak with such certitude. Are you aware at all of the successful programs that prevent recidivism among sex offenders? Of course you don't. Why would you? It's much easier to spout received wisdom that you heard or read somewhere than to really search the literature.

Fortunately for Michael, dogged prosecutor Tom Sneddon seems to share your attitude. "It doesn't matter if he is guilty of this crime, he is guilty of some crime and I will dedicate my life to getting him put behind bars." Just like Inspector Javert.

He HAD to have known about the inconsistencies in the accuser's story, he HAD to know about the family history of shaking down people they believed to be money supplies. But he ignored all that and the case is unraveling.

I'm really intrigued by Sneddon. His hatred of Jackson has to spring from someplace, and I am wondering if it is that same dark place that often makes us hate what we most fear in ourselves. I mean, I'm not saying, I'm just saying. He has like NINE children, right? Was a boy scout leader?

I'm just saying is all.

I hope he gets locked away forever, he creeps me out.

#43

Justice System

Well, fortunately people don't get locked away because they "creep" others "out."

Justice System

Right? He should be put away ONLY if the prosecution does it's job of proving beyond a reasonable doubt that he's guilty.

Which they seem to be having a hard time doing.

And, fact is, there are many pedophiles walking the streets these days. But just because they have an attraction towards children doesn't mean they ACT on it. And that is a BIIIIG difference. Pedophilia is actually not a crime. Commiting a lewd act upon a child is.

i think we're all missing the bigger picture here which is can michael die or will his alien siblings ride the mother ship down to spirit him away out of what left of his crumbling human suit.

I think there is simply too much evidence against him... This stuff doesn't come from nowhere. It's obvious he gets off threadjacking children. That's wrong. He needs to go to jail.

He threadjacks children? Meaning he rubs their clothing or something?

Very often evidence does come from nowhere. From witnesses subtly coaxed by interviewers with an agenda. Like, "Did you ever find nasty disgusting porno magazines with names like Barely Legal in Michael Jackson's bedroom hidden in a suitcase?"

"Um, yes."

"What were the magazines called?"

"Um, Barely Legal was one?"

"Oh, that sounds disgusting."

"It was he showed em to us. It was disgusting."

"Where did he keep the disgusting magazines with names like Barely Legal?"

"Um, I remember he kept the disgusting Barely Legal magazines in a suitcase in his bedroom? And other disgusting magazines?"

"Did they make you feel icky inside?"

"Yes, they were disgusting and made me feel icky inside."

[That sort of thing.]

I think it's way too soon for anyone to be fitting him for an orange jumpsuit. There may be evidence, but its credibiltiy has to be weighed by the jury.

Overzealous prosecutors blow, you should excuse the expression, cases all the time. And Tom Sneddon is nothing if not overzealous.

If you look carefully at the analyses of the evidence, you'll see that Namo is probably right. The prosecutor is going for a circus, just as much as Michael is. The evidence has holes all over the place, and the jury is probably going to have to acquit, as would any of us, if we were on the jury.

And the media will go off on another whole round of "Is There Justice in America?"
