I agree with Jeffrey Toobin in Part 2 of the Anderson Cooper broadcast: the villain in this story is the creep's boss: Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox, who could have fired the guy LEGALLY as soon as this came out.

Cox is protecting Shirvell to curry favor with Christian conservatives.

Q, that's not as bad as some of the stuff I was thinking of. I'd love to see someone plant a camera crew outside his house and follow him around town 24/7 and use his own tactics against him. I bet whoever does that to this jerk will be arrested in no time!

Because the AssAG is a mere annoyance and likely won't cross the line into illegality. He knows better.

It seems all the freaks have arrived along with all the students coming back. The campers are back in front of the local Planned Parenthood office now, too, complete with pickup truck sporting a large standup display fetus photo captioned 'heart beat in 20 days' or some ****. They were there for a few months last year, too.

I'm pretty certain he will be fired. Cox is as big an asshole as Shriveled (sic), but I think it is inevitable that he will be terminated.

I would say that would free him up to go join Westboro, but since you have to be one of their inbred own he'd be rejected.

At any rate, I think what will stick in most people's mind about this isn't even that it was an anti-gay issue. From all the op-eds and opinions I've read most people seem to take issue the fact that a grown man has been obessessing over a college kid. I mean the ADA, who has ALL the resources at his fingertips has chosen a college kid, who has none (save for maybe a beer fund) to persecute.

It's David and Goliath, if Goliath were a closeted and jealous self hating big 'ol mo.

It's election season. Some will do anything to draw attention.

The liberal areas of Michigan have been under pretty intense fanatical right-wing fire for a couple of years now. Thanks to Detroit's asshat of an indicted mayor and the economic struggle Michigan's had for about 10 years (with a Dem Governor for eight of them) the radical righties think people will flock to their feet.

Michigan might (probably will) end up with a Republican Governor this time, but he's presenting as a full-fledged moderate not a radical freak.
