I loved Melanie when I was 14. "Brand New Key," "Beautiful People," "Candle in the Rain," and my favorite: her version of "Christopher Robin Is Saying His Prayers."
I even sang "Look What They've Done to My Song, Ma" as my audition song for the Broadway production of The Me Nobody Knows.
The casting director handed me back my resume with my 8 x 10 stapled on the back and said, "Look, I don't want to waste any more of your time. Or MINE."

As a high school usher, I worked a Melanie concert. It was like descriptions of Judy Garland in performance: an entire phalanx of male ushers had to protect her from the surging crowd.
Oh, and she was effing fantastic sitting alone with her guitar in a 10,000 seat, sold-out auditorium!
It is way past time Melanie is covered, though Miley wouldn't be my first choice.

Hi. I am just a fan of Melanie's and I'm just amazed that she is in New York during all this Miley stuff. She is at The Cutting Room tonight. Im going.

OK - I thought you all thought I was shamelessly schilling her concert. I was there and I must say - she was incredible. So now I will schill - next time she is in town - you must see her. She gives a great concert. Cutting Room had not been that packed in a while. It was a full house.

I remember my cousin Sylvia literally ironing her hair straight to emulate Melanie and Peggy Lipton.
