John McCain effectively sealed the Republican presidential nomination on Thursday as chief rival Mitt Romney suspended his faltering presidential campaign. "I must now stand aside, for our party and our country," Romney told conservatives.
"If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror," Romney told the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington.

I read somewhere that if people wanted to defend marriage, they'd outlaw divorce, make adultery a felony and close the bars at 9pm.

Honey, I've said it for YEARS...
If you want to preserve marriage, them out law divorce and make adultery punishable by public stoning.
The fact that gays are doing what they want in their own bedroom has NOTHING to do with the sanctity of marriage.

What's sad is that he might have been a good Repub. candidate had he emphasized his business acumen rather than trying to be a Huck/Johnny Mack hydra. I think he greatly overestimated the religious right's influence on the GOP.
