#1Mondays in NYC
Posted: 5/14/07 at 2:48pmMy friend and I are in NYC for a few days. We've been seeing shows and such, but I was wondering what people recommend us doing this evening/tonight, on a Monday.

Posted: 5/14/07 at 2:53pmYou simply must go to Musical Mondays at Splash...it's a terrifically good time.

there is a ton you can do. some is very touristy, like taking one of those double-decker bus tours somewhere in the city, or riding a horse carriage around central park. you could also catch a show at bb kings tonight, go to the museum of natural history (although it closes at 5:45pm), or go to the top of the empire state building.
there are also a few shows that have monday night performances, too...

Thanks for suggestions...what is Musical Mondays at Splash? I've never heard of it...
I have enough meaningless sex on all the other days of the week, but thanks for the suggestion. And I've been to NYC a bunch of times and would probably prefer not to do all of the REALLY touristy things. But we might just hang out in central park for a while.

Well then it works out well for everyone that you don't go, doesn't it?
For someone who has never been, and is from somewhere where such things don't happen, it can be marvelous fun.
Gumbo, Splash is a large gay club here in New York, and every Monday, for three hours, they play videos of Tony performances, movie musicals, Broadway Under The Stars, Carnegie Hall performances, etc etc, from the past 40 or so years. My friends and I have been going fairly regularly for the past three or four years, and it's generally a really, really good time.

Posted: 5/14/07 at 3:05pmAh, thank you. So now I'm confused as to where everyone stands on meaningless sex and central park. Do we need to start another Hot or Not thread?

Posted: 5/14/07 at 3:09pmSays you! I personally have never stood on a table and belted And I'm Telling You...any night but at Monday there.

Posted: 5/14/07 at 3:10pmIt's really nauseating. I'm telling you.

Posted: 5/14/07 at 3:12pmYou could see Jerby's show at the Duplex at 9:30. I'll be there!

Meaningless sex = good times
Meaningless sex in the park means you're porbably in the Rambles so that = scary

Nobody's forcing you to go, darlin'. He asked what to do on Mondays, I gave him an option.
I am ever so terribly, horribly sorry if I've dredged up some deep-seated Splash-related emotional trauma. May the Lord forgive me.
Gumbo, if you're a piano-bar type, on Mondays, my friend Jim Allen plays down at Marie's Crisis in the village, and it's usually a really good time (and the drinks are pretty cheap!).

Jail, you're more than a tad dramatic.
Marie's Crisis is great.
And taz...what's bad about 60 year old leather daddies,****rings, and AIDS?

I am NOT 60 years old! Who told you that?!?
And I agree with Jaily about Splash on Mondays.

Posted: 5/14/07 at 4:02pmThanks...I was looking at shows on Monday, but I don't really have that much interest in seeing any of them (or I have seen a couple of them already). We might just catch a movie tonight. Or, maybe Jerby's show.

Musical Mondays at Splash are just fine...it's alot of fun and the boys are non-threatening.
There's also Marie's Crisis and Don't Tell Mama's for more singalong fun...
Don't listen to those mean ol queens--have a drink, sing along with Bebe and enjoy your night!

Splash on Mondays is a blast. Piano bars are also fun. The Duplex has a fun piano bar night on Mondays--and, yes, it would awesome if you saw my show as well!
