Mondays in NYC

My friend and I are in NYC for a few days. We've been seeing shows and such, but I was wondering what people recommend us doing this evening/tonight, on a Monday.

Go get trashed and have meaningless sex with a stranger.

re: Mondays in NYC

You simply must go to Musical Mondays at Splash...it's a terrifically good time.
Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

re: Mondays in NYC

there is a ton you can do. some is very touristy, like taking one of those double-decker bus tours somewhere in the city, or riding a horse carriage around central park. you could also catch a show at bb kings tonight, go to the museum of natural history (although it closes at 5:45pm), or go to the top of the empire state building.
there are also a few shows that have monday night performances, too...

re: Mondays in NYC

Thanks for suggestions...what is Musical Mondays at Splash? I've never heard of it...

I have enough meaningless sex on all the other days of the week, but thanks for the suggestion. And I've been to NYC a bunch of times and would probably prefer not to do all of the REALLY touristy things. But we might just hang out in central park for a while.

It's really, really annoying.

Meaningless sex, or hanging out in central park?

You can kill 2 birds with 1 stone with that itinerary.

re: Mondays in NYC

Well then it works out well for everyone that you don't go, doesn't it?

For someone who has never been, and is from somewhere where such things don't happen, it can be marvelous fun.

Gumbo, Splash is a large gay club here in New York, and every Monday, for three hours, they play videos of Tony performances, movie musicals, Broadway Under The Stars, Carnegie Hall performances, etc etc, from the past 40 or so years. My friends and I have been going fairly regularly for the past three or four years, and it's generally a really, really good time.
Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

Please Jaily, Musical Mondays are just like every other day at Splash.

re: Mondays in NYC

Ah, thank you. So now I'm confused as to where everyone stands on meaningless sex and central park. Do we need to start another Hot or Not thread?

re: Mondays in NYC

Says you! I personally have never stood on a table and belted And I'm Telling You...any night but at Monday there.
Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

It's really nauseating. I'm telling you.

You could see Jerby's show at the Duplex at 9:30. I'll be there!

Meaningless sex = good times
Meaningless sex in the park means you're porbably in the Rambles so that = scary

re: Mondays in NYC

Nobody's forcing you to go, darlin'. He asked what to do on Mondays, I gave him an option.

I am ever so terribly, horribly sorry if I've dredged up some deep-seated Splash-related emotional trauma. May the Lord forgive me.

Gumbo, if you're a piano-bar type, on Mondays, my friend Jim Allen plays down at Marie's Crisis in the village, and it's usually a really good time (and the drinks are pretty cheap!).
Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

Jail, you're more than a tad dramatic.

Marie's Crisis is great.

And taz...what's bad about 60 year old leather daddies,****rings, and AIDS?

I am NOT 60 years old! Who told you that?!?

And I agree with Jaily about Splash on Mondays.

re: Mondays in NYC

Monday is not totally dark as it relates to theatre:

Broadway:

Inherit the Wind
Rent
Spring Awakening
The Phantom of the Opera
The Year of Magical Thinking

-----

Off-Broadway:

Altar Boyz
Forbidden Broadway: Special Victims Unit
I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change!
Perfect Crime

re: Mondays in NYC

Thanks...I was looking at shows on Monday, but I don't really have that much interest in seeing any of them (or I have seen a couple of them already). We might just catch a movie tonight. Or, maybe Jerby's show.

re: Mondays in NYC

Musical Mondays at Splash are just fine...it's alot of fun and the boys are non-threatening.

There's also Marie's Crisis and Don't Tell Mama's for more singalong fun...

Don't listen to those mean ol queens--have a drink, sing along with Bebe and enjoy your night!

re: Mondays in NYC

Splash on Mondays is a blast. Piano bars are also fun. The Duplex has a fun piano bar night on Mondays--and, yes, it would awesome if you saw my show as well! re: Mondays in NYC

Meaningless sex with a stranger can be very dangerous on Mondays.
