Good for them!!! Gives me some hope...

This man is so pathetic. He even looks and presents himself like an uneducated slob.

So, did they walk out and march right to their district office and demand to know what THEY were going to do about this crisis?

Finding a scapegoat doesn't make you right.

I thought there were just a few students outside protesting? The ones with the questions certainly give him a pass.

Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

Christie is no scape goat. Christie isn't encouraging the district office to do anything but fire teachers. His latest stunt is that districts who agree to no teacher raises for next year get more state aid back. I thought there was no money? How come adminstrators are not asked to pay freezes? Everyone knows that's where the real money is.
This isn't about the budget. It isn't about real reform. It's about Christie's vendetta against the NJEA and teachers and students are caught in the middle.

Smart f*cking kids. Sadly, I just found out that the high school I went to is being forced to cut 66 positions (including tenured faculty), as well as its entire adult education program. So sad that lots of good people will be out of a job (and an education--god forbid people try to better themselves) because of this asshat's blatent disregard for education. Personally, I'd like to know the salaries of the teachers at the private school to which Christie sends his children.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

There is a real, legitimate problem with the way NJ towns administer their education problems. They're overburdened with administrative costs, and saddled with benefit costs. There are too many of them; towns need to band together to form regional administrations. But no one on either side of the aisle is willing to address the fundamental problems. The problem isn't teacher salaries, or the number of teachers. The problem is there are too many administrators, and all public employees' benefits are too generous.

Christie has said he will give $75,000 back for every million cut for districts that agree to a teacher salary freeze. When it was pointed out to him that this is nothing his response was "It's enough for two teachers salaries."
$75,000 for two teachers. That's how overpaid they are.
