at getting lots and lots of publicity. In every other way a human being can be rated he falls abysmally short:

First Moz canceled a bunch of tour dates due to a bleeding ulcer. Then, he got into an insane (and STILL unresolved) battle of wills with L.A.’s Staples Center regarding the venue’s alleged agreement/lack thereof to go vegetarian for his 3/1 performance. Then he issued a public ultimatum to Jimmy Kimmel, announcing that he would not appear on Kimmel’s show if another scheduled guest, the animal-slaughtering cast of Duck Dynasty, were also to appear... So Kimmel called Moz’s bluff, went with Duck Dynasty over the former Smiths frontman...Kimmel said that he chose Duck Dynasty over Morrissey because “they have guns and Morrissey doesn’t.”

Anyway, the barrage of jabs proved too much for Morrissey, who was forced to exit his cone of silence and make a statement in response. Said Moz:

"I was disappointed with last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Show wherein our smiling host managed to ridicule depression (70% of Americans suffer from depression according to the National Institute of Mental Health). He then found time to ridicule healthy eating (the obesity epidemic in the U.S. costs $147 billion per year in medical expenditure), and he also ridiculed the notion that animals should be entitled to the possession of their own lives. Furthermore, he found time to jokingly promote gun-ownership — hugely amusing for the parents at Sandy Hook, no doubt. He also promoted his special guests Duck Dynasty — who kill beings for fun. None of the above issues are, of course, as important as Jimmy Kimmel himself, who has finally revealed his show to have an overwhelming loss of meaning. Tune in and relive the intellectual fog of the 1950s."

Oh Steven. Lighten up. (Good job selling lots of tickets, tho- now get out there and actually play, OK?

Vegetarians who preach animal rights annoy me. Go vegan or shut the F#@k up. The dairy and egg industries are barbaric.Vegetarianism is a crock of s@#t if you claim to do it for animal rights.

I respect vegans. Vegetarians who scarf cheese, milk and eggs make me ill.

Meh I'm a vegetarian who eats eggs and milk and cheese. I justify it, I suppose, by buying all of it from a farm (actually I get free eggs from a friend with a farm,) but... That said I don't really care if others eat meat--it's my choice, and I modify it with what makes me comfortable (I became vegetarian much to my family's annoyance as a teen due to animal rights issues.)

There definitely are very annoying vegetarians and vegans out there. In my own experience, I find if I go to a dinner party or something and someone says "Oh that,s right, you're a vegetarian"--there's always someone who instantly reacts on the defensive because they assume that's going to be my cue to lecture them--so instead I get a lecture about how people were meant to eat meat, bla bla. Meh. Anyway it may seem hypocritical to some--but I don't worry if my vegie burger is barbequed next to a beef one at a party, or if I'm dating someone who eats meat at every meal-and most of the vegetarians I know (which aren't a lot) are the same.

Dumb question I guess, but what food do they sell at concerts that he was protesting? At the big arena tours I've been to (mostly in Canada except for two in San Francisco), all I remember being able to buy was drinks, candyand popcorn or nachos... Do people go to concerts and eat hot dogs? Just seems odd...

Back to Morrissey--I thought this was going to be about his nonsense with David Bowie now THIS seems very hypocritical (and just pissy) to me
Moz won't let Bowie use photo of them on cover
