oh, the death stare.
Remind me of the death stare?
Most disturbing moment: every moment the curtain was up at the Winter Garden when CATS played.

Not Broadway, but I was quite disturbed at Emily Skinner molesting herself during My Life with Albertine...
During the same show, it's also quite alarming to have her give you a crotch shot while she sings the line "I have felt on my thighs the raw meat of your love my love"
*shudder*
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...

Aldonza's rape in MAN OF LA MANCHA
The advancing storm trooper puppets in THE PRODUCERS
"Tomorrow Belongs To Me" in Cabaret, as well as the final scene from the revival
Roxie and Velma at the end of Chicago talking about how they are evidence of what a great country America is
The killings of Sarah and Coalhouse in Ragtime

a play (not a musical) called 'the goat- or who is sylvia'- WEIRD!! mye eyeballs were popping outta my head as i was reading the script!
(Play) The last moment of streetcar. Stanley comforting Stella for something that he was the cause of.
Ive never seen it live, but I have a feeling Mama Rose's bow after the audience has stopped applauding must be chilling.
The moment Melanie Griffith set her foot on a Broadway stage !
Paradice's rant on American society in BKLYN sorta creeped me out. She was INTENSE, man!
no contest... the video of kennedy being assassinated projected over lee harvey oswald in, what else, "assassins." many of the shows moments i was prepared for, having read the libretto many times and treasuring the '91 cast recording. the video thing i was *not* expecting and i haven't seldom felt that kind of shock and sickness in a theatre before. a real theatre moment, affecting you the way theatre is supossed to... i felt something very raw and very painful as i gasped through "something just broke." what a beautiful show.
also, that last moment in cabaret with the emcee... well, it's shocking and sad and sick. another memory that will stay with me for a loooong time.

Isn't the cannibalism in Sweeney a little disturbing to anyone else?
Also, I've always found the part in "Success" from Ragtime to be a little hard to take when the man asks Tateh, "How much for the girl?"
When I was a kid, I saw a production of OLIVER. Bill Sykes beating Nancy to death really disturbed me. Seems tame compared to some of the serious responses on here, huh?
Margaret White chasing Carrie and stuffing her in the trap door to pray. While singing, yet!
