broadway, I actually agree with a lot of the films on your list!

bway - while I, too, appreciated some of those movies, I might disagree that they didn't get attention. Especially Fatal Atraction, Postcards From the Edge and About Schmidt. One I did like that really wasn't embraced much - I think unfairly - was A.I.
For me, even though it was only intended to be a silly, light romantic comedy, Overboard got unnecessarily drummed. I found it to have a lot of heart, and it truly makes me laugh.
Still feel Phantom movie was overrated, in the media and especially the critics, and Shumaker and Webber were blasted for history and personal taste.
Totally agree with Rules of Attraction, awesome movie!
Field of Dreams
meh, know there's more too early to think...
Ah Rules of Attraction is such a messed up movie...
How about The Forgotten with Julianne Moore...
Broadway, some of the movies on your list make me CRINGE that anyone would consider them underrated - you have GOT to be kidding me. The Cell? House of Wax? Sky Captain?
Maybe you just like horror movies, but come on!
Whatever. My list:
The Rules of Attraction
The Dreamers
Requiem for a Dream
Dancer in the Dark
Munk-
We have to get one thing straight, because it is getting way out of hand: It is my opinion. I don't care what anyone else thinks.
Both "The Cell" and especially "Sky Captain" had acclaim from some major critics, so why are you questioning me? If anything "Sky Captain" had predominately positive reviews, so (if I'm playing your game) you are in the minority on that one. In all seriousness, this has got to stop. I don't mean to be rude, but do we understand each other?

I don't care what critics said - it's their opinion - I don't care what other people think.
I'm just curious as to how you can say something like THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE is underrated. I'm not saying you're stupid or tasteless, I'm just baffled.
Was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind underrated? If it was, and I don't think it was, I'd like to add that to the list.
I thin it would be more clear to everyone if someone defined what underrated meant....

"I'm not saying you're stupid or tasteless, I'm just baffled."
Huh?
Craig, I took it to mean films that were either not critical or commercial successes.
To me, underrated means films that were not as well-received as I think they should have been.
Craig...I agree...
Many titles on this thread were well recognized by critics and the public.
Underated would be films like
"Sarafina"
or
"Girlstown"
(Yet, the latter was in theatres longer than Sarafina)
I just saw a movie called "Me and You and Everyone We Know". It's AMAZING. Go see it.

I saw it too. It's incredible.
House of Sand & Fog
QM
Underrated by whom? Lots of the movies listed were huge critical successes.
And, really, who cares what the audience that made 'Shrek 2' into the third highest grossing movie of all-time thinks?
