Some of his choices are sarcastic, but there are a few that illustrate good points. And usually it's the movies that are first to get transferred which are the ones that shouldn't have been transferred at all.
What are some of your ideas, and why?
My favorite movie is on the list.

There are cool 3-D movies. But no movie should ever be converted from flat into 3-D. This is the colorization of the 21st Century. Just leave the goddamn movies alone. Let CASABLANCA remain in black and white, and let CITIZEN KANE remain flat. It already has more depth than any of the movies on that list.

From what I've seen Roscoe, you are exactly right. Converting movies that weren't shot with 3-D equipment can not achieve the same effect. Objects and people are in dimensional space, but they are are flat. It resembles lenticular 3-D.

Yeah if it wasn't shot in 3D doesn't it kind of look like a view master?
I would LOVE to see an Evil Dead movie in 3D...but would prefer it to be a new one.

Posted: 3/12/10 at 10:55amWell, about half of the films released are shot flat and converted. Alice in Wonderland, for one. I don't care what they do with the movies, as long as the original versions remain available. I'd be very happy to see my favorite film, The Sound of Music, in 3D. Although I would rather see it, again, in its original 70MM Todd-AO, but that's more unlikely!

Imagining Citizen Kane in 3D with that opening scene of the snow globe breaking apart with the close-up of Kane in his dying words utter 'Rosebud' is interesting. That would look trippy along with the clapping hands but really those are the only things that stick out.
I agree with the Evil Dead trilogy but for different reasons. Those films are so low-budget it would just look bizarre when put from flat to 3-D tech. Oh yeah and the forest rape scene was disturbing enough flat.
I disagree about ET. It could look great.

"Precious"
LOL. I can just picture Precious kicking that pan down the stairs and having it come out into the audience. Or the image of her running out over you with a bucket of fried chicken.
