Mrs. McGreevey blames gays for her book failure

Only in America can you exploit your own lurid private life, appear on Oprah to push the exploitation, and then blame your tell all book's failure on the public's reluctance to stick their noses into your smelly laundry. Or rather .... some of the public. Mrs. McGreevey blames gays for ruining her book's sales. Fascinating. For once the public displays a soupcon of taste and it's all a gay backlash? Get that other best-selling author-with-a-gay-story wannabe, Mary Cheney on the phone, quick.
Honey, I'd say it's an insidious straight/gay alliance at work here. Call it The Coalition of the Incurious. What happened in the Governor's mansion (yawn) will have to stay in the mansion.

So you married a Homo? Who gives a sh!t? Was your book marketed for gays or to the women who marry them? Why would the gays want to read YOUR side of the story? We want to read the guy the Gov was schtupping's side of things. If we want to read about straight women who marry Homos there are plenty of Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli and Elsa Lanchester books out there and they were actually interesting people!

Posted: 6/13/07 at 9:29amNot that I care or I want to defend her, but didn't she blame her ex-husband for the lagging sales and not the gay community at large?

she stated that her husband's accusations of homophobia turned the gay community against her.

Pal Joey, unfortunately you'll never get that time back!!
She's a skank, and if she were listening, she'd realize the gay community doesn't want her husband either.

The thing about these tailor-made-for-Oprah narratives ("Your man might be cheating on you with a MAN!") is that they are actually the ultimate approach-avoidance conflict for viewers of one hour TV chat shows. These folks are not going to spend money and sit down with a tangible object in their hands that reaffirms the unspeakable fear that lies beneath: give a couple of guys a locker room, or a peep show, or a rest stop, or a bush somewhere and there's a pretty good chance that a BJ might happen!!!!!
I'd like to believe that the gays didn't want to read the book because McGreevey himself is so unappealing.

I'll say. As a fairly recent emigre to the still-blue Garden State, I've found his smug self-serving "I am a Gay American" demeanor unappealing in extreme. And a set back for gays, men, and people with "Mc" in their names.
For all his coming out talk, his solution to a failed Juan and Eva Peron marriage is very narrowly retro-hetero. He dearly loves to promose a white, rich, elitist fantasy idea of an idealized "lifestyle" -- meet the right Ivy Leager, swoon, get an ivy-covered mansion with him, swoon some more, frame some cheesy nude photos over your king-sized futon to establish your cool queer street cred and epater le bourgoisie a tad, make high-fiber waffles with fresh fruit compote in your re-done kitchen ... without ever even WANTING to visit the Molly Pitcher rest stop again. Ugh. The heyday of Ronnie and Nancy is what all the gay marriage shtus is about?

Kinda. That really IS what HRC mean when they distilled more than a half-century old movement down to =.

Always thought it was bourgie myself but I think it's more the intent that counts with that word anyway.
I'm more curious as to how she can be so oblivious to the possibility that TEH GAYZ simply might not want to read her story, evil mudslinging from the ex aside.
